2014 NFL Season Thread

Recommended Posts

The run of 8-8's has ended! Finally. Last time the Cowboys had a winning season, I was still in high school.

Thank goodness! That was a great win and a December win at that. Three more to go.

I'm also glad we have ten days to prepare for the Eagles. On Thanksgiving, the Cowboys were out-played, out-coached and out-prepared. Hopefully we'll see a better performance from the Cowboys.

Also just read that Romo has been playing with a broken rib for the past two months in addition to the broken transverse bones in his back. Sheesh, say what you will about him, but you cannot deny his toughness.

Cowboys - Lakers - LAFC - USMNT - LA Rams - LA Kings - NUFC

If it's any consolation the Bears have the modern day equivalent of Jeff George as their starter being paid Aaron Rodgers money. So they got that going for them.

late-Jeff George was pretty good for the Vikings after replacing Cunningham. Didn't he play well somewhere else too? I know he stunk with the Colts - I even remember the SI cover when he was drafted #1 that said something like "Who?"

I remember Jeff George and June Jones having an on-the-sideline argument when they were with the Falcons.

He was actually alright with the Falcons for the most part. But my lasting memory of George was he getting the start in the playoff game (for some reason) over Bobby Hebert at Lambeau Field the week after Hebert led the Falcons to a then-rare win over the 49ers in Week 17 to clinch a playoff spot.

Falcons. That was the other team.

I, for one, will never be able to picture Jeff George as anything other than a Raider. I think there are some sporting goods stores in the east bay where you can still find Jeff George jerseys on the discount rack.

Guys Guys

Yes, I know he's good but...the Rams just signed their punter to a 6 year, $18 million deal. $9 million is guaranteed.

THE RAMS EVERYBODY!!!

VRENTAS: You talk about quarterbacks having to be great passers first, and that’s been one of the big issues with Robert Griffin III. Can he turn things around?

TARKENTON: I said two years ago that RG3 would not make it. This guy comes from a good family, a good background, a good school, Baylor; he’s a smart young man, physically gifted, he can throw it. But he came into the league with an arrogance. He goes into Washington, which is the worst place for him to go. They have been so hungry for a quarterback, and for winning, they worshipped him. Here’s RG3; he’s our savior, he’s our guy. His father gets involved and is in the locker room—I have never seen a father in a locker room on Sundays. The owner, Dan Snyder, adopts him and becomes his best friend. So RG3, at 21, 22, thought he was Jesus, right? And he was making pontifical statements about how he approached the game. I was listening to him the offseason after his rookie year, which was not a bad year, and I’m saying, “Holy s—, this guy is out of control with his ego.” That was the first sign you saw that he lacked leadership. Then, he was so into himself. You know a quarterback’s job? Make his teammates better. It’s not about you; it’s about your teammates. You’ve got to make them better, and if you don’t make them better, you have no chance. And he was all about RG3. I sympathize with Jay Gruden. Gruden came out and pointed out, which is right, that he has no mechanics. He is a terrible passer, has no accuracy, he doesn’t understand the offense, he doesn’t read defenses, and he has no discipline. When he is supposed to take a three-yard drop, he takes a one-yard drop; if he is supposed to take a five-yard drop, it’s a three-yard drop. There’s no discipline and understanding of the defense because he is a pontificator. He will never make it. He will be out of football. He will be in the same graveyard as JaMarcus Russell and Vince Young.

Rapoport reporting that Bears will fire Tucker after season's end in addition to the potentially larger news of having serious buyer's remorse on Jay Cutler.

My stance hasn't changed. Franchise needs a shotgun to the face.

Today is a good example of why Hekker got paid and Zuerlein didn't.

Ummm....Washington, you might want to consider firing your special teams coach today.

Epic collapses by Cincinnati and Miami today.

You're treading rather lightly there. This franchise sucks. I'm not watching another game until this Dan Snyder buffoon sells the damn team.
