The Patriots/Steelers/Colts/Ravens/Peyton Manning hegemony is getting really boring. dat parity doe

I hate to be that guy, but "THIS."

And you know damn well the Bengals aren't breaking that up this season, either.

Indeed. The NFC is radically different one year to the next, but this generation of AFC powers is really discouraging if you're not a fan of the Pats, Mannings, Steelers or Ravens.

It seems like unless you luck into your franchise QB working out (and the NFL deciding to regularly change rules to support the same four franchise QBs), you can hope to pick up just one attainable playoff spot each season.

Seriously - the NFC has had 9-7 and 7-9 teams make the playoffs in the past few years. If you're a Bills fan, you need to hope for a magical 11-win season for a sniff at the playoffs, and even then, it's not guaranteed.

I honestly think these Bengals would lose to the 2005 Bengals if they were transported from a time machine.

That Bengal team with a healthy Carson Palmer, Ocho/Housmanzadeh/Rudi and a defense that forced a league-high 44 takeaways (31 interceptions). That 2005 team is more suited for 2014 NFL.

At this point, the NFC playoffs are going to be very anticlimactic outside Seattle if the Rams can't pull one more giant-killer upset next week.

I know anything can happen in the playoffs, but at this rate, I would be absolutely shocked if we don't get Seattle/New England

I'd say each conference has two possible Super Bowl entries:

New England - Denver

Green Bay -Seattle

I'm sure by possible you meant probable, because as I've stated above, the Cowboys are good enough to knock one of those two teams off.

They play the games for a reason. And I'm not dissing Dallas but I think Green Bay and Seattle are the two elite teams in the NFC. I'd be surprised if the Super Bowl included any teams other than New England, Denver, Green Bay, or Seattle. But we've all been surprised before.

I don't disagree with you, actually. I think Seattle is the best team in the league and I'd be shocked if they don't repeat. I think the NFC is pretty open though, compared to the AFC. Aside from the Seahawks and whoever places as the 6th seed, the second team in the NFC Championship could be any of the other 4 teams.

Cowboys vs Steelers #4 is looking like a possibility...

Steelers will not win in Foxborough. Dallas won't be the NFC representative. Seattle will be a tough team to beat, especially if they take the #1 seed.

Keep doubting the Cowboys. We've proven everyone wrong all season. Now, I don't think we'll reach the Super Bowl, but we're definitely good enough to do so. Plus, Seattle knows we're the only team in the NFC playoffs who can beat them.

I'm sorry I can't see a team who is unproven in the playoffs beating Green Bay and/or Seattle away from home. Sure, it can happen but I don't see it. They could, however, beat Detroit at Ford Field.

A couple of things I'd like to point out: the Cowboys are the league's best road team, the Cowboys are 11-3 with Romo this year and the Cowboys are the only playoff team to have beaten Seattle in Seattle. It's foolish to so easily dismiss Dallas when they've proven throughout the year that they are a different team than the previous iterations of the Dallas Cowboys.

Now, I don't think the Cowboys would beat Seattle again. They're just too good and I just can't see Dallas beating them twice in a single season. As for the other playoff teams, Dallas can beat any of them.

I can't see this Super Bowl being anyone other than New England vs Seattle. Basically, ANOTHER rash vs sunburn game for me.

These Seahawks are playing much better than the team that Dallas (among others) beat earlier in the season. I don't see anyone beating them in Seattle, and Dallas struggles at home (I guess last night was obvious exception) so while they'd have a better shot than in Seattle, I just can't see it happening. Romo has played very well, but will get hit more than he's been lately and his back could be at risk.

I also can't see Dallas going in to GB and winning. I think Seattle would defeat GB, but I think that even they would struggle at Lambeau. I haven't looked at what the matchups are, but I think that Dallas needs to hope for a match up with AZ (maybe DET, but I haven't seen them play so can't say.) Of course if AZ is a WC, then that means that either SEA or GB would be next, and... yeah.

Also, the Philly media / fan love afair with Chip Kelly is officially over - and man is it over. He got hammered at his presser today, and got in to it with a reporter who he called a "smart a- ", then gave arrogant answers to questions and started claiming that stats show that his offense wasn't the issue (even though if you take the 10 D/ST TDs out of the picture, his offense wasn't all that.) I guarantee he's hoping a college other than Michigan gives him a call.

He's being compared to Andy Reid after today's presser, as being an arrogant guy who thinks he's the smartest guy in the room. Also, in my lifetime of watching Philadelphia sports, I've seen bad players take it pretty hard from fans and media, but man - Bradley Fletcher (the CB who got burned repeatedly by Dez Bryant and Deshawn Jackson) is getting absolutely destroyed in ways that I almost feel are disrespectful.

To their credit, they are statistically the second hardest team to throw against but as long as they are on the field and as much as PHL plays a Single High Safety to attempt to stop the run (about 78%), they were ready to get burned by a good to great QB. Romo and Bryant did it in week 15, Rodgers and Jordy Nelson did it too but Carson Palmer showed how to throw deep on them in week 7.

Question for Rockstar Matt- How do you think Dallas will approach week 17 vs. Washington, considering they can only get a first-round bye depending on what happens in the late games?

I don't think they will try another 2007 approach here.

Dallas has already said they're not resting anybody. They don't want to ruin their routine they have going. Having said that, it's hard to imagine Romo and Murray playing very much. They're just too important for the playoffs to be on the field in essentially, a meaningless game since we've all but locked up the 3rd seed.

Do they have even an outside shot at a bye? You need to balls out for that if so, no natter how long the odds

That call on Demaryius Thomas is one of the worst I've ever seen.

Disregard that. I can see how they called it.

Edit: The roughing the passer call was legit... but it's just one of those penalties that makes the NFL so difficult to watch anymore.
