2014 NFL Season Thread

Hey Lions fans you are forgetting the Packers are pretty damn good and hard to beat in Lambeau, the Lions had a very good season and are in the playoffs. As a frustrated Phins fan I would love to be in Detroit's shoes .

It wasn't pretty, but the Seahawks get the job done and beat the Lambs to insure home field.

I'll take it. It beats having to play at Carolina (again) and stare down the barrel of a lose-lose situation.

We came close 2007 (1-15)

You know what is a greater hell 8-8 every damn year because you cant get anybody in the draft.

Also the Lions dont sleep on them, they have a chance to win in Dallas.

Oh yeah, Headley, remember what I said about fame fleeting after the first game?

Not really, no.

Of course I was wanting the Falcons to win, but am kind of glad they didn't. A 6-win team has no business being near a playoff spot, and making the playoffs not only gives you a lower spot in the draft, but also gives those in charge of calling the shots some pause in making personnel and coaching and front-office changes...something the Falcons need.

The GM should definitely be gone. He didn't address the team's biggest need in the offseason: getting pass-rushers and quality O-linemen.

The coach should probably be gone, though it could be said that he did about as good a job as he could with this roster. Although, today's performance was simply dreadful, and Smith's clock management cost the Falcons at least two games this year (Detroit and Cleveland come to mind). The second half of today's game aside, the team never quit.

2015 should be good for the Falcons. Between them and the Saints and Panthers, the Falcons have by far the best cap position to improve themselves. (The Saints are already $30 million over the 2015 cap, I've read.) The schedule shakes out decently, with the seemingly-harder games at home (home to the Eagles, Redskins, Texans, Colts, and Vikings.....road games at the Cowboys, Giants, Jaguars, Titans, and 49ers).

I have to say that this has probably been my least favorite NFL season ever, and I'm so glad that it's just about over. There isn't a single playoff matchup this year that I find even remotely interesting. I hope nobody wins the Super Bowl.

And I'm pretty sure virtually every other baseball fan except you says the same thing about that season come the end of September. :)

And just to add to all that, since only one team considers losing to be a net win...

Yep, it's already starting.

Not that this anything new for [state of] Florida football...and especially Tampa, who's had a history of drafting in-state college players even when other, probably better players are available. I fully expect this tk pick up all kinds of steam as winter rolls on towards spring--regardless of whether Marcus Mariota declares for the draft or not.

The Buffalo Bills deserve the playoffs more than the Carolina Panthers.

Remember, Carolina lost every big spotlight game this season (Steelers/Eagles/Saints). BUT DIVISION WINNERS MUST BE REWARDED!

Bleep the NFC South. They're basically Newton, Benjamin, and a bunch of guys.

Winning your third game of the entire season and costing yourself the #1 overall pick in week 17 is downright stupidity. I'm not completely sold on Mariota as the #1 overall pick, but at least Tampa HAS the #1 overall pick now (Thanks to the AWFUL play of Josh McClown). They could pick Mariota, or even leverage this pick for more draft picks. Plus, this prevents them from doing something REALLY stupid like drafting Jameis Winston.

Don't worry; the Jets and Raiders have got this covered!

I see no reason why Schotty Jr. should return to the Rams next season. Or Janoris Jenkins for that matter.

I think Mariotta will be better than Winston and I think Winston's off field troubles are a factor in being concerned about his NFL career. However, Tampa is in FSU country and they may be pressured to go for Jameis Winston.

Jameis Winston would end up spending more time in Tampa area jails than in Raymond James Stadium if that were to happen. I think even the Bucs are smart enough to know that.

... Wait a minute. No they're not. Jameis to Tampa it is then I guess.
