Lights Out
Golden Tate, on the Bills carrying former Lions coach Jim Schwartz off the field on Sunday:""I thought it was so disrespectful. So disrespectful. I didn't like it at all," Tate said on 105.1. "If I knew I wasn't going to get fined, I would have snatched him right down off their shoulders and threw him on the ground, personally. But obviously I couldn't do that."Assaulting a coach after the game is over? Uh, you'd probably go to jail, dude. LaGarrett Blount (sp?) didn't when he cold cocked that guy from Boise State a few years back. That Boise State player had it coming, though. You talk crap to a college kid that's known for having a short temper, you deserve what he delivers. Except Blount talked before the game about how Oregon "owed that team an ass-whooping." He was angry that he wasn't able to back up his talk and had a childish meltdown. The fault lies with him. You think Blount still takes a swing at that BSU player if he doesn't talk crap to Blount?Don't dish it out before the game if you can't take it after you lose. Coast2CoastAM2006
Here's an interesting stat (to me at least): the Cowboys have shutout an opponent in the first half 3 times this season. Before this season, that only happened 3 times in the last 4 seasons. Also, I'd like to point out that the Cowboys, until this Sunday, are tied for the best record in the NFL.Please, anyone who predicted this, raise their hand. Anyone? Not even I, CCSLC's resident Cowboys' homer, thought that'd happen this season. The Seahawks game will be a good test to see where they are at. They do have a good strategy with keeping the ball in Murray's hands provided he hold on to it which helps keep the ball out of Romo's hands and keeps the defense off the field. If they can keep from drifting back into the habits of shooting themselves in the foot,.Then they could be a serious dark horse candidate going into the post season provided they can avoid the winter collapse. DaRadniz29
I'm getting sick of the NFL. So much so I may stop watching the games. I know one fan not tuning in to watch games isn't going to affect them at all, but it's getting ridiculous with the fines and suspensions, and the multiple penalty games for illegal contact is making the game becoming ticky-tack. If the NFL is going the direction of tick-tack fouls, I will not watch. All these player suspensions and negative images must frustrating for the NFL, but for a fan it's very frustrating. I know this is a bit of a rant, and it is, but it's getting to point where I start thinking "How big of a concern is the sport of American Football?" Meaning, if the NFL folded tomorrow, would I care? Honestly, the answer right now is "nope, I'd feel bad for the fans and the good guys of the NFL but I wouldn't lose sleep over it. I guess the basic jest is, the NFL is on thin ice and they don't seem to doing much to remove themselves off the ice, instead the continually make decisions that send them further out onto thinner ice. I'm not full blown never watching again, and I'll probably still watch this weekend's games, but each week I care less and less about the NFL and football and If this continues I don't know if I see the NFL being around in 5-10 years.Agree? Disagree? Sorry if it's overly negative, just the way I feel. Â Â

DaRadniz29
JMac- I actually forgot about the anti-NFL thread. Shame on me Rams80 - Yeah, that might still happen. CS85
Illegal contact has increased from 15 calls in Weeks 1-5 last year to 59 calls this year. Defensive holding has increased from 52 in Weeks 1-5 last year to 115 this year.Overall there have been a total of 163 more penalties called this year than at the same point last year. In addition to the increase in illegal contact and defensive holding, NFL officials have thrown 14 more offensive pass interference flags, 48 more illegal use of hands flags and seven more flags for taunting or unsportsmanlike conduct. Many fans think the officials have gone too far and that games are getting slowed down by constant calls from the officials, but the league says that in reality, games are moving along more quickly this year: The average time of a game has gone down from 3:09:44 last year to 3:05:41 this year. DG_ThenNowForever
You know what's terrible? After every single touchdown play, your first instinct is to look for the "flag" icon on the scorebox. Even the officials do it -- "Receive catches the ball in the endzone -- no flags -- touchdown!" Same with with big runs. Officials may not call a penalty all the time, but the expectation is they will. It's like main events on WCW Nitro, when fans spent all of their time looking at the ramp instead of in the ring. They learned to expect the run-in, so they were never able to 100 percent focus on the match. And WCW went under after being the dominant wrestling promotion for a bit. So, watch it NFL. 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags

So, watch it NFL.Yeah it's gotten annoying. You never trust that a score will hold up so it's harder to get excited. Even if the official signals a touchdown then there's two minutes of review to see if both feet were in and the announcers saying "well it's a scoring play and as you know every scoring play is reviewed". Yeah we all know that. Instant replay's done a lot for the game, but it's also changed the way we watch. In baseball when a guy hits a bomb you know it counts, in hockey 99% of the time the puck goes in the net it counts. In football if somebody scores there's a pause and everybody kind of looks around for a penalty.
Coast2CoastAM2006
JJ Watt stops by a junior team to give a motivation speech. With all the negative press the NFL has gotten, it's nice to see something like this for a change. Spoilers!
KDubK414
^Add that to the "It's Aaron" campaign. Those should be what the NFL should be promoting. Especially in light of recent events. You said it man!

DG_ThenNowForever
Time to see if the Bills are for real. My guess is no. My hope is yes.My guess is somewhere in the middle. They won two games they should have and one they shouldn't (Lions), and lost one game they shouldn't have (Texans). They've played well on the road, and lost at home to potentially the best team in football. I think today will be competitive, but I wouldn't be surprised with a blowout for either team.EDIT: Why is Fox broadcasting an all-AFC game? 1 hour ago, ShutUpLutz! said: and the drunken doodoobags jumping off the tops of SUV's/vans/RV's onto tables because, oh yeah, they are drunken drug abusing doodoobags
Cosmic
Did something change with the TV contracts this year? It doesn't seem to be following the same rules as in the past about whether my local games are on Fox or CBS. Is this another thing the Thursday night games have screwed up?Edit: I think Fox also had the Bills-Lions game last week, even though it "should" have been on CBS since the AFC team was on the road. Dalcowboyfan92
EDIT: Why is Fox broadcasting an all-AFC game?Well here in eastern PA; the Giants and Eagles are playing on Sunday night and the Redskins play at 4:25pm (with Dallas playing 4:05pm). So, I think FOX could make things work to show a game until 4pm.
