  1. Does anyone have a better version of this logo?
  2. Working on a 1983 themed March Madness bracket and I'm finding these Gonzaga logos without years. Which one do you think they used then? I've gone through online yearbooks without success and I believe the current bulldog head logo appeared in '98. Thank you.
  3. For March Madness I am making a themed bracket based on Stranger Things. The year is 1983 and all of the the logos for March Madness will be from 1983. However I am having issues finding what the Belmont Rebels look like. FYI Belmont changed their name in 1995 to the Bruins. I may share the bracket if there's interest.
  4. This concept was started a few years ago here: http://boards.sportslogos.net/topic/98132-vintage-style-lipscombcoloradohoward/ . And I just went back and cleaned it up. Let me know what you think of the updates. Here is the image: And a GIF for comparison:
  5. This started in the request section as a request by mattb6. I took the logo I put together for that request and tweaked a few things, this is what came of it. I'm thinking of using this as a shirt design or for my youtube channel. Tell me what you think.
  6. Before I started posting NHL concepts, by hand, there was the V.V.G.L. My first series that I posted back in 2012, consisting of the following teams, representing the following video game franchises... Anaheim Assassins: Goldeneye 007 New York Rollers: Crazy Taxi Series San Jose Metroids: Metroid Prime Series Calgary Mario's: Mario Series New York Wake: Wave Race Series Toronto Sonics: Sonic Series Edmonton Triforce: Zelda Series Pittsburgh Pacmen: Pacman Series Vancouver Jetsets: Jet Set/Grind Radio Series Minnesota Yoshi's: Yoshi/Mario Series Montreal Quake: Quake Series Victoria Knights: Heroes of Might & Magic Series Wanting a break from my current, NHL, series; I decided to redo the entire league and expand it to 14 teams. V.V.G.H.L. sounded a bit clunky so I changed the name to simply VGHL. A few franchises have moved or changed altogether and the league is now divided into two conferences. Here are the 14 teams I will be posting: Western Conference Eastern Conference Anaheim Assassins: Goldeneye 007 Brooklyn Gear: Metal Gear Solid Series Calgary Marios: Mario Series Florida Pacmen: Pac Man Series Chicago Street Fighters: Street Fighter Series Montreal Quake: Quake Series Edmonton Triforce: Zelda Series New York Rollers: Crazy Taxi Series Minnesota Knights: Heroes of Might & Magic Series Ottawa S.T.A.R.S: Resident Evil Remake San Jose Metroids: Metroid Prime Series Pittsburgh Yoshi's: Yoshi/Mario Series Vancouver Jetsets: Jet Set/Grind Radio Series Toronto Sonics: Sonic Series I will be alternating between Western and Eastern conference teams, starting from the North down. First up are the Vancouver Jetsets (coming very shortly).
  7. I've begun collecting logos that I'd like to update. The first one I did was an old amateur hockey team logo, and I posted it here. This time I thought I'd try to get a bit more elaborate. Here's what I started with: And here's my update: Let me know what you think! PS: here's the rest of the logos I'm currently going to try to work with: pinboard. Let me know if there's one in particular from there you'd like to see or if you have any suggestions. I'm not currently planning on doing requests like Ren, but I'll definitely consider suggestions.
  8. The Bucks haven't been good for a very long time and are irrelevant to some, but I still love this team and their old school logos and uniforms… I've always wondered what the logo on their shorts in old pictures actually looked like and recently found these. The white one's from '68-69, their inaugural year and the green shorts and shooting shirt are from '72-73.
  9. Hey everyone! I love this website and just recently found the forums section and have found a lot of interesting threads. However, I was unable to find a thread of retro college football uniforms (late 60s/70s/80s/90s/ even early 2000s) I love making retro uniforms on NCAA Teambuilder, but it is so hard to find retro uniforms unless you search for a specific player from that team in a given era. For example, if I want a 1984 maryland uniform, I need to look up "Boomer Esiason maryland football" in google, and even then its usually a crap shoot. But here is a chance to put some uniforms that you grew up loving in this thread So, for the greater good of the whole comunity, lets just make a thread completely devoted to college football retro uniforms! Please include the year that the uniform was worn! good luck everyone! hope this projhect is a success! I'll start us off! Vinny Testaverde, Miami U, 1989 PSU Joe Jurevicius 1997 With a little bit of late 90s USC in there too lol
  10. So I just came across this patch on Etsy from this guy's shop and was wondering if anybody knew anything about it?
  11. Couldn't stand looking at AppState's Yosef anymore so took a stab at tweaking it to still look vintage but better. C&C welcome.
  12. Something I drew up yesterday. It's been awhile since I made a vintage style logo and I thought VT could use a better vintage representation. Updates to come, C&C appreciated. There are a couple sources for the posing, see if you can figure them.
  13. My Brewers alternate throwback logo that I posted yesterday got a good response so I am adding another one of my concepts today. But first, a little bit of backstory... I am obsessed with logos that were designed in the 70's. So that got me wondering: what if some teams that have had the same logo since their inception before 1970 got a new logo in the 70's? What would it look like? The first team I did was the Kansas City Chiefs. I combined a red capital K with a football shape that is made up of a black C and an arrowhead. I am a big fan of diagonal stripes so I couldn't help but include them as the laces on the football. Plus it is kind of reminiscent of warpaint. Here is the logo: . . . . I'd love to hear what you guys think!
  14. In this thread, we've seen all the permutations of the Milwaukee Bucks' classic looks. From the traditional look of the championship era to the Irish Rainbow, the Bucks never really had a bad look. After hearing about old Bucks players trying to buy the team from Herb Kohl before the team packs up for Kansas City or Seattle, I thought it was time to show off a new direction the team could take their look that not only pays tribute to the 70's/80's, but also cleans up that look for modern standards (much like the Utah Jazz/Washington Wizards redesigns in recent years). Like my Sonics update, this is a preview for an upcoming concept series, a sense of the general direction in which the series will go (rooting the NBA in between the 70's/80's aesthetic and the zaniness of the 90's to produce an NBA that looks far less homogeneous than it does now). Logo Sheet: The primary and secondary logos are Ren69's gorgeous updates of the original Bango art, the font is from that original logo, and the tertiary/insignia shows off the new Irish Rainbow pattern, which replaces white with lime. Court: Essentially, it's an update of the classic Mecca Arena court, with the angled patterns and the "Milwaukee" markers in the baseline. Of course, Bango is now at the center of the court, and the updated Irish Rainbow pattern has been implanted in the keys. Standard Uniforms: Basically, these merge the second Irish Rainbow set with the third one. It uses the script, panel layout, v-neck, and number font of the second set of Irish Raibows, while it has the mixed hem, arm, and collar piping of the third set. The number font is also the proper Sand-Knit varsity font (as still used by the Celtics and Spurs), referencing the team's past with Milwaukee-based Sand-Knit and avoiding the anemic Knicks-style varsity block that the Sixers and Jazz adopted (Would it kill them to use outlines?). The color balance on the home uniform has also changed, reflecting more the third Irish Rainbow uniforms and the modern look. Of course, this means the colors are flipped on the road. The standing Bango has also been added to the shorts. Alternates: The alternates are simple enough. The red alt is an attempt to recreate the current red alt, albeit on the new template and in the old lettering/number font, and the green alt is a throwback to this road uniform (with Ren69 providing the shorts logo). C+C is more than appreciated.
  15. I drew up this "Faux-Back" WV logo because they didn't seem to have any vintage style mascot logos. Tell me what you think, response will dictate how far I go with this.
  16. Hey all, I started a thread in the Sport Logos forum about vintage college mascots (http://boards.sports...e-mascot-logos/) and it inspired me to take a look at a few colleges that didn't have that style of logo. I started with my alma mater South Dakota State University; their previous logo was taken straight from Warner Bros. and in 2006 had to abandon it. This is the concept sketch that I came up with: The body position was borrowed from NCSU, but the rest was either researched from SDSU or developed myself. Next I turned my attention to SDSU's rival, USD. The coyotes had a Warner Bros. inspired mascot logo too. This is USD's concept sketch; Again the body position was borrwed, this time from Navy, and the rest I came up with.
  17. Hi everyone, I'm new here and looking for some help. I collect old hats, so I go to a lot of thrift stores looking for them. Over the past few months I've found some hats that have me stumped, and I figured this would be a great place to check out and possibly get some answers. I'd love to know any info about the teams, if they still exist, if the hats are worth anything, etc. pretty much any info is appreciated, thanks in advance! (I also posted this in the Thrift Store finds thread, but I figured it would get more exposure as an individual post). #1 Baltimore Stars. I heard it was some random league football team in the 80's but other than that I have no idea #2 I have no idea what team this is, the inside says MLB officially licensed, but I cant for the life of me figure it out. #3 Again, No idea. It's a fitted New Era from the 70's 80's, my first thought was phillies but I realized that their logo was totally different at the time. It vaguely resembles their logo in the 50's but this hat is too new for that. I suppose it could be a regional team, but the logo is sewn which looks pretty professional. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated!
  18. I took one of the Braves' current alternate uniforms and used it as the basis for a new uniform set, mixing a pair of eras in the concept. What do you think? To clarify: the one on the upper left is NOT a concept -- it is a current alternate jersey.
  19. Browns: Years ago Colorwerx had wanted to see if something other than orange could better complement brown for the Browns, and I recall a large number of Browns concepts being posted due to his pondering. I was among them, and had utilized the color scheme he'd suggested: keeping brown, but complementing it with bronze and champagne silver (yeah, that goldish-silver color the USFL's Michigan Panthers had used). Fast forward to now, and I found myself thinking about that color scheme. Leaving the champagne out this time, for the home and away I merely decided to replace orange with bronze And here goes the alt. Packers: I've revisited more concepts than I think is legally healthy...and I do it again. I've also likely been at Gothamite's blog, the Wearing of the Green and Gold, more often than is healthy. Regardless, the early Packers G, which was more football-shaped than the current, oval G, got me to thinking, and so this time out, I decided a return to a football-like G would be rather welcome. My first try, which I likely won't release unless asked, was too pointy, so among other tweaks I realized I needed to make, I scrapped that and took aim at more of a football-like shape. It isn't the 60s G, exactly, but I feel it's reasonably close. uniforms after the jump. Yes, all the recolored Heismans go with a particular uniform...even the one that would look more at home in Happy Valley.
