also this one, i feel it might need some tweaking.

Care if I take a swing at this, Ren? I know some of these can take HOURS to do -- plus, I'm a lifelong Bengals fan (and had a shirt with this guy on it as a child).

  3. Unpopular Opinions:

Tom Brady is a good QB, but he's not 'elite'. Brady's success is largely a biproduct of Belichick's system. Brady's not bad, but he had a whole lot less to do with those Super Bowl wins than Mr. Hoodie.

As mentioned in another thread, I don't think Ben Roethlisberger is an 'elite' quarterback. I don't even think he's 'great'. I think he's an above-average QB on a team that had a great defense and had a couple of hot streaks. Same goes for Eli Manning.

Robert Griffin is the most overrated player in the NFL. He's basically a less-talented, but more marketable Mike Vick.

There are exactly three ELITE quarterbacks in the NFL:

    Peyton Manning

    Drew Brees

    Aaron Rodgers

Andrew Luck should win Rookie of the Year.

JJ Watt or Adrian Peterson should win MVP.

Peyton Manning is the greatest QB of all time.

Jim Harbaugh will be a Hall of Fame coach.

  4. Ok, well it was a good excuse for misspelling "either"

Also, why do you continue to use quotations as apostrophes?

ehh. i tend to get visits from the grammar nazi alot. lol. ive always thought quotations were apostrophes. I just guess a force of habbit?

Habit, not to be confused with Hobbit

    gollum.jpg

That's not a Hobbit. This is a Hobbit.

    gimli.jpg

    Wrong.

  5. Since I don't really watch many sports games that don't involve the NFL, that's all I feel qualified to comment about.

I like the Rams' white pants. A lot.

I hate all the custom number fonts the NFL teams use. If it makes a design better; fine, but this 'custom fonts just so we can trademark them' trend really needs to stop.

I liked the Eagles' black alts.

I cannot stand the Bengals' 'Striped B' logo.

Pat the Patriot was a good illustration, but a terrible logo. Flying Elvis is ten times better.

Speaking of old logos, the Packers, Bears, Niners, Vikings, Jets, Browns, Raiders, Cowboys and Redskins could all use an update.

    I LOVE GREY FACEMASKS.

Piping is just like striping. The way the uniform designer chooses to employ it determines whether it is 'good' or 'bad'.

Most of the uniforms designed in the 1990s were crap. Notable exceptions were the Carolina Panthers and Florida Panthers.

    Gradients aren't inherently bad.

Block numbers almost always look better than the alternatives.

Sometimes, white shoes actually look better on a football team (See Colts, Jets, Giants, Dolphins, Browns, Packers)

An all-white uniform is bland as hell, but is necessary when the teams employ a white helmet. (White helmet, white jersey, colored pants = lame)

  6. Buy Illustrator.

Anywho, I'm just curious? Can anyone tell me how to convert text to outlines in Illustrator and InDesign? Any and all help would be much appreciated.

Click on your textbox, go to Type>Create Outlines. Done.

    Or, Apple (or ctrl, if you're a PC :rolleyes::P ) + Shift + O

No need for rolly eyes, my friend. I've been a proud Mac owner since October! Thanks for the help!

  7. I really only have three favorite teams: The Cincinnati Bengals, the Indiana Hoosiers and the distant third being the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

I became a fan of the Bengals as the combined result of timing and geography. I was born in 1981, right before the Colts moved to Indianapolis. Erego, all the sports-themed clothes my mother bought when she was pregnant with me were bought with the closest teams on them at that time, which were the Hoosiers, Cubs, Blackhawks, Pacers and Bengals. There were also a few Notre Dame articles in there as well, but my dad just made her buy those because of our Irish heritage, more than anything.

I remember watching football on TV with my dad and uncles, and thinking that the Bengals' tiger-striped helmets were the coolest things I'd ever seen. Well, it just so happened that my dad's girlfriend(who happened to work at a hat factory down the street from my mother's house) heard me go on and on about the 'Tiger Helmets'. A few weeks later, on her way home from work, she stopped by my mother's house to give me a brand-spanking-new Bengals hat. It was(and still is) the coolest hat I'd ever seen in my life.

The entire hat was that foamy material that a lot of trucker hats' front panels are made of, and it was a baseball-cap style replica of the Bengals' striped helmets, complete with a nose bumper that said 'BENGALS'. I've been hooked ever since.

The Hoosiers really don't need an expanation. Everyone born and bred in Indiana likes the Hoosiers (Purdue and Notre Dame alumni and their children notwithstanding).

I like the Irish...well, because I'm Irish. The fact that Notre Dame's in Indiana doesn't hurt, either.
