Blackhawks - I got the love for them from Clark Griswold wearing a jersey in National Lampoon?s Christmas Vacation. Plus the farm team plays in Portland.
Blazers - Oregon?s only pro team so I have to root for them, I guess. I don?t really care for any team in peticular, I?m more of a fan of certain players.
Redskins - I?m actually pretty new to full blown fan hood for the ?Skins. I always rooted for them as my NFC team. My AFC team was the Jets, thanks in huge part to Curtis Martin (my favorite player all-time). But with the addition of Mark Sanchez and a few other players I hate and Rex Ryan, I just couldn?t root for the Jets because I distanced them so much and lost my passion for them. I did some soul searching and realized I never truly like the team, outside of Curtis. With my love for the Redskins as my NFC team it was an easy transition to their fandom. Plus no one would question wether or not I was a bandwagon fan (because I never want to be one of those), based on a move to a perennial losing squad.
Rays - I never really had a baseball team per say. I went to a Dodgers game once and my mom loved the Braves, but neither of those rubbed off on me. There was however a young franchise that always caught my eye. I?m not sure if it was the gradient logos or the signing of childhood favorites the ?Crime Dog? Fred McGriff and Wade Boggs. Maybe it was the pure hatred for the Red Sox and Yankees (and the Jays, but on a smaller scale) and their idiot and/or bandwagon fans, that got me passionately infused with the team. But for whatever reason, they stuck.
Incorrect. the Portland Pirates are the Buffalo Sabres farm team. the Rockford Icehogs are the farnm team of the Blackhawks.
I was talking about the Portland Winterhawks, I assumed they were affiliated with the Blackhawks. (I don't really understand minor league hockey)....My Bad

Um... the Timbers?
I refuse to acknowledge them, since the addition of them gave the boot to my Triple-A team the Portland Beavers. Also I don't like soccer.

As far as my college teams go...
Oregon Ducks - OK so by now I am a ravenous Ducks fan, but prior to the 3rd of November in 2001 I didn't root for any college program (consciously). I was in high school and one of my best friends was wondering if I liked the Ducks, and if I did, would I like to go to a game. Of course I lied and said I'm a huge fan. Don't get me wrong I watched football all the time but didn't have a shaped favorite in my mind. Keep in mind the Ducks had Joey Heisman and I love offense. By half way through the first quarter I was sold and my heart belonged to the Ducks. The passion, the electricity, the jerseys, the mascot, the mystique of Autzen...just all of it was a high and I needed to feed my addiction. One of my dreams would to eventually play for the Ducks (like that would ever happen) and eventually have tickets for life (more of a possibility). I currently live and breath with every win and heart wrenched with ever L, my fandom is at full blast. I also collect a unusual large amount of football cards of Duck alum in the NFL.
ACC
Miami - Kind of a bandwagon that stuck...when a program is churning out the likes of Sean Taylor, Ray Lew, Reed, Portis, Gore, McGahee...Mostly started to follow them based off of alum in the NFL (also since 2001)...I have a addiction to trading cards with The U defensive backs.
Virginia Tech - I know 'another ACC team?', right? I just LOVE 'Beamer Ball' and their jerseys and 'Enter Sandman'. I'll probably root for Beamer and his boys as long as he is a coach...I'm also addicted to their DBs
BIG 12 - Texas - Loved them since we beat them in the Holiday Bowl. From Applewhite to Simms to Young to McCoy.
BIG EAST - Pitt - See Curtis Martin. (Dan Marino doesn't hurt neither does Larry Fitz or Jon Baldwin)
BIG TEN - Michigan St. - For some reason I like Michigan St...probably because they aren't Michigan, plus they wear green.
C-USA - I don't care for the C-USA but if I had to root for one, I guess I'd root for SMU.
INDY - See above...I guess Navy wins by default.
MAC - Ohio...this is fairly new...probably caught my eye with their beautiful jerseys (they also wear green...bonus points)
MWC - Wyoming...because I got a free clock with their logo on it...seems like a good enough reason to root for them.
SEC - Auburn (even though they beat us in the Natty) Probably stems from me like Jason Campbell, Carlos Rogers, Cadillac and Ronnie Brown.
SUN BELT - WKU (for a whole whopping 2 years) I know the currenty RB coach pretty well...he also was a standout for the Ducks in the early 90's
WAC - Idaho...spent a summer up on their campus and being cheering them on since.

So with all this talk of College Football realignment I figured I'd take a swing at figuring out FOUR power conferences and FOUR lower-tier conferences.
POWER CONFERENCES
WESTERN CONFERENCE
PAC 8
1. California
2. Oregon
3. Oregon St.
4. Stanford
5. UCLA
6. USC
7. Washington
8. Washington St.

1. Illinois
2. Indiana
3. Michigan
4. Michigan St.
5. Notre Dame

4. Kansas St.
5. Minnesota
6. Nebraska
7. Northwestern

EASTERN CONFERENCE
NORTHEASTERN

So the way I see it for the National Championship
Western would play Northern
Southern would play Eastern
Winner of Western/Northern would play Southern/Eastern
Winner of that game would be NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
And the next year rotate.
EX: Western vs. Southern...Northern vs. Eastern
Winner of Western/Southern vs. Winner of Northern/Eastern
Winner is National Champion
And rotate once more the following year.
