  1. Still think that the Atlanta franchise will be a huge bust.

As far as names go: MLS has been trying to push the name Alliance onto teams for a while (Atlanta Alliance) as well as Republic (Atlanta Republic). If Blank wants to go to the cities soccer history we have Atlanta Apollo, Atlanta Silverbacks, Atlanta Chiefs, Atlanta Ruckus, or the Atlanta Attack. I believe the big youth soccer club from the Atlanta Region is the Concorde Fire, but I could be wrong.

Additionally I have read that the current buzz from the soccer fan base seems to be pushing for Atlanta Phoenix.

Out of the choices I listed above I like Alliance or Apollo but I am not a huge fan of any of them in particular. It will be interesting to see what Blank & co come up with.

  2. Pretty cool, man, even if they didn't choose yours. I had pretty much put two and two together between you staying quiet after I asked if you were involved and checking out your Dribble page. I think I prefer the blue treatment.Weird that I kind of accidentally bumped into someone attempting to revamp that here since, no joke, I've complained about it/half-heartedly told my wife that I should just contact someone at the OCS with a revamped version for, like, a year and a half every time we see it in any of the city papers, or on the news, or hear about them on TKS, etc. Guess I waited too long. :)

Thanks. I was waiting til today because i thought they would reveal a logo and just wanted to focus on that rather than an idea that got cut. But i feel bad adter building this up for nothing. Whatever they go with has to be better than what they have now. Hopefully they reveal it soon

Logo is ok. Little modern for my take but overall a job well done. My question is w/ the Soccer Lions name. Did they tell you to call them the Soccer Lions? Is the Soccer Lions tag currently used in existing OC branding ? Seems very odd. It was my understanding that they would just be called Orlando City w/ possibly the SC changed to FC for MLS. I thought the Lions monicker would just be used by supporters groups and not be used in an official trademark/wordmark capacity by the team.

the official name as of now is the Orlando City Soccer Club Lions. weather they change that when they move to MLS or not i don't know, but i would imagine it would be Orlando City FC Lions. i asked Three21 Creative about the name, and we had decided to keep the current one for the proposal. the word mark could easily change. i think they will keep the Lions name. the owner has said he wanted to keep that, at least a lion in the logo, and the colors

Interesting. Did a brief scan of their website and didn't see the word lions anywhere. Always thought Lions was similar to the Red Devils in Man Utd.

  4. Hard to judge with it laying down. Once it's worn and we see it on a person, I personally believe it will looks really good.

My only concern after looking at it is, it looks legit, but look at the flag in the bottom left corner. (Bottom right looking on your screen) It looks shopped really badly. Unless it just perfectly folded that way..

All and all, my hated rivals to the South will look good this year, and most likely play good.

Could be a shop but @Kitnerd is usually pretty reliable. Agree w/ re: to the Flag. It is suspect and the word underneath is confusing. Could be my eyesight but looks like "Formation"???? or else it is "adimotion"??? no idea.

  5. I get this feeling that's not going to look as bad on the pitch as it does lying like that... I'll reserve judgement until I see it on the pitch.

Agree. At least it keeps up w/ the uniqueness of their chevron laden inaugural uni's.

  6. I'm seeing this on Facebook as a potential new LA Galaxy home shirt:

    401318_10150537867309928_194821234927_8714813_878856674_n.jpg

It's from Angel City Brigade, one of the supporters groups. No confirmation if it's real.

i think this is it but it is a downgrade big time

    I disagree. I like that a lot!

Love it. Fans were clamoring for the sash to make a comeback. Don't understand the gridlines either though.

  7. Toronto had no soccer tradition to speak of prior to Toronto FC.

Toronto had franchises in the NASL many years ago.

The NASL was a joke, and Toronto's tenure in the NASL is hardly something that deserves to be honoured.

If there is any soccer history in Toronto to justify naming a MLS team after, it's the Toronto Linx, and let me stress the "if".

As long as the fans embrace the FC thats all that matters. Who really gives a damn if "bleuet" hates it.....

In looking at the logos attributed to Toronto as listed in the NASL ยง of the site:

    Toronto City: 1967

    Toronto Falcons: 1967 - 1968

    Toronto Metros: 1971 - 1974

    Toronto Metros - Croatia : 1975 - 1978

    Toronto Blizzard: 1979 - 1984

    Toronto Lynx: 1997 - 2004 (A-league)

Based on the revolving door of names, it appears that FC is perfect.

    Montreal:

At least Montreal went the somewhat traditional route. Portland turned a logo that was pure class into a cartoon (although I do like the revised secondary)....
