    - As an ACC supporter (FSU fan), I'd enjoy seeing them branch their championship game north (& south for that matter).  I know travel is a btich, & playing in the Carolinas is neutral enough- I'd like to see them back up their Atlantic foothold with title game in the likes of Syracuse, Foxborough, & even Miami.

Counterpoint to moving it away from Charlotte:

If you move the game to a location that isn't centralized, this is the risk you run. Sure, Charlotte has been pretty fortuitous with the matchups over the last 5 years, but more likely than not, someone close to the city is going to win their division. Imagine for a moment the glorious prospect of a FSU-Miami championship game... in Boston. I'm not sure fans in Tallahassee would like to make that trip, and a traveling Miami fan base can be fickle even in prosperity. The quality of the conference has increased tremendously from the time of the picture above, but not enough that the game can prosper up north. I think what would be best now is to establish a permanent location where you can build up the game's prestige, not unlike the SEC Championship. Of course since the conference is expanded across the east coast and now further west, every member institution won't be truly happy with Charlotte, but it's best for right now.

But their upcoming issue is twofold. How many subscribers can they realistically expect come 2019 and how much will ESPN load up basketball on the channel to force the conference's three eastern states (NY, PA, MA) to add the channel on the basic tier.

Clay made some good points, but forgot about the importance of hoops for the northeast members.

The success and longevity of the ACC Network is much related to the digital platform that launches this year. If it what I expect it to be, a Netflix/Watch ESPN type service with live events and some original programming, it will most likely be a hit, and if (when) the cable bubble bursts, outlast the cable network. In terms of the linear platform, I believe there is enough of a widespread alumni network and fan base across the conference to be able to gain a healthy number of subscribers, especially if you factor ND into the equation. I figure, if the PAC 12 Network can get its 7 networks across the country without being attached to a major sports provider, ESPN should be able the do the same with the ACC Network, much like the SEC Network.

  3. Not to mention if Notre Dame was to relinquish their football independent status any time in the next 20 years, they have to go to the ACC. That deal looks better and better each day.

Man, 5 years ago, this conference was pretty much left for dead. Now it's in a position to thrive. Quite the turnaround.

  4. Can I get a link to this source you have found? I assume it's a Twitter account, but I'll gladly be wrong.

None of this truly correlates, here's why:

    1. None of these schools have $50 million to waste on leaving the ACC

    2. Neither Florida State nor North Carolina have anything to prove being in the Big Ten. Both schools just won national championships in their respective sports that people know them for, and I'm not entirely sure they would want to uproot and destroy rivalries with fellow conference members.

    3. If the end game is to get Georgia Tech, why? They don't fit amongst the rest of the land grant, flagship universities. The only conceivable reason is the Atlanta market, which might not even matter, due to the increasing popularity of "cable cutting" providers (a la Netflix).

    4. If Notre Dame wanted to join a conference by now, I'm sure they would've. Obviously, they wish to stay independent, and probably will stay that way until forced. Also, they would have to pay up to the ACC as well for the remainder of their teams.

All this would've been plausible 5 years ago when the ACC was seen as vulnerable and on shaky ground, but at this point, I'm pretty sure everyone is locked in. But hey, I thought Maryland had some sense to stay.

This is the latest my 2 sources in the know FLA state,GA Tech, UVA, UNC to the big10 and now ND is in serious play. Texas is split

I'm not knocking you, I'm knocking the source. BUT FSU IN THE BIG TEN?!?!? WHAT?!? That's honestly even more ridiculous than them going to the Big 12. And all that's wrong because ND can't join any other conference other than the ACC in football until 2025. Unless all those schools got $50 million to blow, this ain't happening.
