Strong indication new Argo jerseys and/or unis coming May 23.

Sad to see another team going full-time monochrome. It amazes me that teams and players seem to prefer  the unitard look over the traditional contrasting top and bottom.   Also, sorry to see the home blacks have no piping on the orange numbers.

It's not about modesty, it's about uniformity. Sports uniforms work best when there is a consistent look for all players, IMO. And socks, while drawing a lot less attention than  pants, jerseys and helmets, are a very important part of the look of football. Or at least they were before so many teams inexplicably switched to wearing pyjama bottoms.

Unfortunately that's not quite true. The CFL is now allowing players to do three things that to my eyes are ugly as hell:

1. Wear shorts instead of pants. Many players have their pants ending six inches or more above the knee. I could see allowing this for punters, but not for position players.

2. Expose bare leg between top of upper socks and bottom of pants. Looks high school.

3. Expose bare leg between shoes and bottom of upper sock -- bare ankles, essentially. Looks ugly as hell.

The league also turned a blind eye at least once to a player (Toronto Argos' Tristan Decoud) wearing white socks top to bottom in the same game all of his teammates were wearing blue upper socks.

Argos have removed the stripe from their helmet. I love stripes, but this is pretty sharp looking.

It's official -- the boat (modified to remove the old "football orange" football) is back, permanently. The shield remains as a secondary.
