Hey question: Where can one get a hold of NBA teams fonts?
-
What's the point of swapping Louisville and South Carolina? Why would SC leave the SEC?
To be fair, most of the alignments in hear makes less sense than that.
South Carolina was a former ACC member (from 1953-1971) plus it makes it easier to pair them with their state rival Clemson.
The alignments now don't make any more sense than some of these (WVU is in the same conference as OU?). I mean i see there may be a lack of tradition but most of these are just a matter of putting schools in conferences based on geography not by tradition necessarily and definitely not by superficial reasonings (money, ratings, etc).

I feel like with 8 divisions of 4, you'd have to play more division games to make the division championships legitimate.
One possibility:
division 6x=18 games
interconference=32 games
in conference=32 games (on a rotating basis, play two of the other three divisions 3x and one 2x)
This would mean every team in a division plays just about the same schedule (only difference is home/away for a few opponents.)
82 game season, division winners seeded 1-4
If they were worried about a prime matchup taking place in the 2nd round instead of 3rd, they could reseed a la the NHL.
I only mentioned Vancouver as a possibility because Stern has said it was a mistake leaving there so soon (it worked out for my city though).
With 8 divisions of four, it's hard to come up with something they'd go for.
This was the best I could do, but the Pistons, Celtics, and New York teams probably would not like it.
Pacific: SEA, VAN, POR, PHX
California: LAL, LAC, GSW, SAC
Southwest: HOU, DAL, SA, NO
Central: UTA, DEN, OKC, MIN
Midwest: IND, CHI, MIL, CLE
Northeast: DET, TOR, BOS, PHI
Atlantic: NYK, BRK, WAS, CHA
Southeast: MEM, ATL, MIA, ORL
Why would you put/name a division the Midwest in the Eastern conference then have a central division in the west? Doesn't seem right. Additionally, some of these alignments are wacky (NY in the same division as Charlotte but not Philadelphia????)

Tokyo Tech to the Big East! Woot! Woot!
I'm going to really laugh at the Big East when the BCS only runs the championship game and there are no longer automatic qualifiers.
Nothing says Big East like the southwestern-most city in the United States being represented in the conference!
Thank goodness we're getting out of that clown car...
They're still going to have more money and more TV exposure than any mid-major conference, which still makes them a better option for Boise, Houston, SMU, etc. even in that scenario.
And nothing says last ditch desperation like a conference based in Providence, RI adding a member in San Diego, CA.
Add that to the fact that it's freaking San Diego State, who's known more for drunken idiots and drug raids than they are for success on the field or in the classroom, and you've got the most pathetic attempt at saving a conference you could imagine.
What's up with the double standard? I mean, a couple weeks ago, people on this site and everywhere else were applauding or supporting the BIG 10, PAC12, SEC raiding conferences of teams (which in my opinion is all about $$$) even the ACC (are Pittsburgh or Syracuse really on the Atlantic? Come on!). But now, that the Big East is picking up/trying to pick up SMU, Houston, etc. (which I don't even support), it doesn't make sense? The Big 10 is the Big 10 with 12 teams, and no one thinks they should change their name.
Pretty much if we're gonna criticize the Big East for merely trying to survive in this dog-eat-dog business that is the NCAA, shouldn't we have the same judgment towards the "BIG" conferences as well? And please don't talk about oh because these are the "BIG" conferences they deserve or can get a pass. Ultimately this is all about money and pretty much we're letting financial greed destroy not only college sports tradition but also geographical common sense that actually is not looking out for the best interests of these student athletes who will end having to travel hundreds, now even thousands of miles to just play a conference foe.
If only the conference musical chairs could cease.

With the recent realignment talk in the MLB, I think there are two logical decisions they can make with the divisional alignment:
Option 1
Have 15/15 alignment between AL and NL with three divisions each (schedule will be mostly intraleague with more interleague games).
AL
East: Baltimore, Boston, New York, Tampa Bay, Toronto
Central: Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Milwaukee, Minnesota.
(If anyone should go to the AL, it's Milwaukee b/c they were there originally.)
West: Kansas City, Los Angeles, Oakland, Seattle, Texas (similar to the old AFC West)
NL
East: Atlanta, Florida, New York, Philadelphia, Washington
Central: Chicago, Cincinnati, Houston, Pittsburgh, Saint Louis.
West: Same as current
Or Option 2
Still 15/15 between AL/NL but each league has one 7-team and 8-team division each.
AL
East: Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, New York, Tampa Bay, Toronto (8)
West: Kansas City, Los Angeles, Milwaukee, Minnesota, Oakland, Seattle, Texas (7)
NL
East: Atlanta, Chicago, Cincinnati, Florida, New York, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, Washington (8)
West: Arizona, Colorado, Houston, Los Angeles, Saint Louis, San Diego, San Francisco (7)
In addition, the 5-team playoff is a pretty dumb idea (uneven, if anything). I think MLB should either stick with 4 teams or go to 6 teams. With a 6-team playoff: a. Under three division alignment, the 3 division champions plus 3 wild card cards (by record) get to the playoffs. The top two division champions would get byes which will not only make it important to win your division but also to have a better season record hopefully resulting in more/better competition and motivation ("EQUALING RATINGS!!!") or b. Under two division alignment, the 2 division champs would get byes and the other seeds would be determined by record.

I don't understand why conference expansions can't stay regional? The Big 10 (11, or whatever) is filled with central/midwestern schools? So why do they want to invade the Big East to add eastern schools? Pitt needs to stay in the Big East, Boston College should come back, and Penn State should maybe join the Big East.Schools like Notre Dame, Iowa State, and Missouri should be considered for the Big 10. I really dislike seeing teams out of place in conferences (what is BC doing in the ACC? Why is St. Louis (MS) in the Atlantic 10?)

Hmmmm.... Let me think.....
Trailblazers- I grew up as a Bulls fan (even though I'm from New York), and Scottie Pippen became my favorite player after Jordan retired. When he left the Bulls, whatever team he went to became my favorite team. I was a Rockets fan in 98-99 but than he got traded to Portland the season after. It's odd because I didn't really like or care for the Blazers before then. His favortism to me decreased over the years but I just stuck with the team even after he left and after they fell out of elite status.
Florida Gators- I started watching college football around the 94-95, specifically the national championship, and I just picked Florida to root for and stayed with them till this day. Plus, New York State doesn't really that much major college football teams.
Mets- Rooted for the Phillies in the 93 series and fell out interest of baseball. Got re-interested, and picked the Braves as my favorite (again around the 95 WS). However because I'm from NYC, I started to notice the Mets around 97-98. They started to actually become a good team just barely losing on the NL wild card race that season (the Mets were pretty irrelevant before then for a couple years) and really became a them since that season. I was a them and Atlanta till they played in the 99 NLCS which then the Mets became my favorite team and I my love for Atlanta became hate.
Lastly, Chiefs- Of course, I was only exposed to the Giants at a young age so I liked them when I began really watching the NFL but at that time one of my older brothers was a Chiefs fan around 94 (they were really good then) and I just imitated him. But since them I never stopped supporting them (while he has) which why I'm still a fan today.
