I like the 48 the best of the Hendrick cars

I feel like the 24 could've used black flames to stand out more against the red

The rendering of the 24 isn't great but when they officially unveiled it at Daytona it looked nice! Very reminiscent of Jeff Gordon's scheme for the second Phoenix race in 2014.

New Washington LB Frankie Luvu will wear 4 (was previously 49 with Carolina). It will the first time since the rule change that any player on Washington’s defense has worn a single digit and is only the second player for Washington’s defense to wear a number below 20 (DB Emmanuel Forbes 13)

William Jackson III wore number 3 for a brief time while he was here

The Nats used to have a red alternate cap with a navy bill. That would balance out the look a bit more.

They've just blown through so many hats and jerseys already that their identity is becoming so muddled.

That was my favorite Nats hat, way better than the all red home version. I'm glad they are bringing that color scheme back for the BP hats this year

Swap out the DC interlock for the curly W and you have my exact same thoughts.

Sure, "DC Nationals" might not roll of the tongue quite the same as "Washington"--but it's also far more direct. Plus, I've been waiting for one of the big major four teams in DC (see?) to embrace the DC moniker. (The MLS side figured that out long ago, as did the AAF and XFL teams that played there.)

    Dare to be different, DC....

They could fully embrace the interlocking DC logo but still be known as the Washington Nationals, seeing as the Minnesota Twins do it with their TC logo.

I always wished the City Connect uniforms had used the interlocking DC logo over WSH, it connects to the city a lot more.

Maybe wherever you are, but i don't think I've ever heard that here, and I have friends there, take trains there frequently, interact with work colleagues there, etc.  It's 100% "DC", or "the DC suburbs", etc.  I have good friends who work on Capitol Hill who would also say that colloquially, "Washington" is only used to refer to government.

In fact, a friend of mine who's not a sports fan thought that the Washington Wizards played in Washington State because of the use of Washington (this friend lives in Phila, not in DC where she'd've probably at least have known the arena or heard them in passing.)

Of all the people I know and interact with in the northeast corridor, I don't know a single one that says "Washington".

Exactly. I live 10 minutes outside of town and always call it DC, and that's all I ever hear. Sometimes I might say, "I'm going Downtown today", but its never Washington.

Those new road uniforms are horrendous, that Washington script looked great on the jersey. I don't mind the pullover since its not a full time look and love the addition of the DC patch. That has always been my favorite logo of theirs and would love to see it on a hat again, even with the District outline around it would be cool.

Washington really could’ve gotten away with keeping the WFT uniforms but swapping out the helmet for the new one. Instead they gave us mishmash trash.

I want to like the new uniforms because Washington is my favorite team, but I really can’t. There’s some things within the set I want carried over whenever they change though. Like the “COMMANDERS” (sans lines) on the home jersey and “WASHINGTON” on the aways. I like the striping on the burgundy jersey as well. The diamond faux mesh could’ve been done a lot better. It’s fixable.

For the things I hate, they could easily add stripes on the pants, the number font is junk, the heavy addition of black is atrocious. Especially the entire black alternate. They look like those non licensed knock off football toys in a dollar tree that are supposed to be the Steelers.

    100% spot on!

Week one is going to feature the home team in red helmets with all white below that and the road team in white helmets with all red below that. That's going to be so ugly and confusing.

That is definitely gonna be a terrible match up. If Washington would've worn burgundy over white for that game they would've looked like a respectable football team, and it would've put Arizona in the best of their new uniforms.

Forcing a team to wear a separate all-white uniform instead of the primary one with the white helmet seems like a totally arbitrary place to draw the line. Seems obvious to me that if the Bengals are allowed to have a white-out look, they shouldn't be forced to wear a completely different white uniform than the one they wear most games.

I feel like the real solution to the whole alternate helmets/alternate uniforms thing is just to put a cap on the number of different combinations a team can wear in a season. Limit teams to like four or five different uniform sets from head to toe and you probably won't have any issues. The teams that want their alternate helmets can get them, and you won't have teams going crazy with the number of mix and match options they have. Teams have to designate primary dark and light combinations and all others can be worn a max of three games like now.

I like that idea. If you want to wear any parts of an alternate, whether as a whole set or just mix and match a jersey or helmet, it would count as one of your three alternate slots for the year. The Commanders could wear the all black set twice, and then if for some reason they wanted to pair the black helmet with the normal road set, they could do that one game to fill the third alternate slot for the year.

The issue is presumably the white uniform is demoted to alternate. Would that mean the orange jersey is promoted to away?

Or is this a situation where the Bengals want to use the regular white uniform as both away and alternate?

I'd imagine that they could do what the Panthers have done as far as the alternate helmet goes.  Wear the current all white uniform with white helmet as your Color Rush set, but then only be able to wear white jerseys over black pants on the road since white on white would now be Color Rush.

    I really like these

I'm glad he reached such a big milestone in these! Hopefully they'll become at least a full time alternate in the future, but I wouldn't mind a rebrand based around this again

@Moseph Do you think there's any way you would be willing to recreate this uniform concept artwork, but with differences? Specifically, the only differences I'm asking for are these: the helmet shell color should be gold (as an homage to the 1970s Washington teams), with the "W" logo in burgundy, the stripes in a burgundy-white-burgundy pattern, and a burgundy facemask. The pants should be gold with a burgundy-white-burgundy striping pattern. Also, Terry McLaurin's last name is spelled "McLaurin".

Here are both concepts you wanted to seespacer.png

Is it really, though? With those gradient numbers, stripes, and zero yellow on the top?

I would say that its the best possible combination when they insist on wearing white jerseys, but I think white pants with burgundy socks would look good too. As far a best possible uniforms for the team, I'd say that would be burgundy jerseys, white pants, and burgundy socks. But if the rumored gold pants exist, then the best possible combo would be burgundy/ gold/burgundy.

Sure, when I get a chance I'll try to mock that up. Thanks for pointing out my typo on Terry's last name, I didn't notice that before.

Commanders in white jerseys, burgundy pants & burgundy socks today vs the Chiefs in their standard home uniform.

To me Washington doesn't look as bad as they did in all white from the shoulders down last week 🤷🏾‍♂️

Last week would looked better with burgundy socks and this week would've looked better with white socks. They really need some stripes on the pants and socks to break up the yoga pants look. Also, there is way to much emphasis on black in the jersey, if they swapped that to gold it wouldn't look too bad.

That's another What If. If Washington's ownership had changed the name to Commanders but continued the Gibbs-era uniform just used the "W" mark on the helmet, how would that had worked out?

That would've been fine by me, and a million times better than what we ended up with. I'm not a huge fan of the Commanders name, I still usually refer to them as Washington, and probably one of the few advocates of the Football Team name. The worst part of the WFT rebrand was the helmet, if they would've left the stripes alone and slapped the W on the side instead of the stupid numbers it would've looked great. Same thing with the Commanders, their helmet (preferably with a gold facemask) paired with the old uniforms would've been a great set. It would actually look like it belongs in the NFL, especially for a franchise that is celebrating 90 years of existence.
