Were they actually referred to as "sod poodles" or is that just Brandiose brand free association a-la Baby Cakes?
No, we call them prairie dogs...- 4

I think think they could have gone with Sod Dogs and had better buy in from the community.
It's one thing to go with an odd or obscure aspect of local culture, but at this point I'm pretty sure Brandiose just pulls adjectives and animals out of a hat.
You realize there is one centralized location here in town where these "Sod Poodles" are known for inhabiting. Apparently, it is across the street from the hotel where the "branding agency" stayed when they came to visit the town for research. Funny thing is the city just eradicated them from the area...

"Stone Ranch Media filed for the trademark two days after Amarillo Professional Baseball announced Sod Poodles on the list of name finalists.
In a Facebook post, Dusty Green said the team made three offers for his trademark in September, but he turned them down. Green said he will not only not sell the trademark, but he now plans to make his own Sod Poodles merchandise."
What a lovely individual. Jumps on the trademark to make a quick buck but then won't go through with selling to the actual team because...he wants to print his own tshirts? What kind of a spiteful game is this?
Dusty is a friend, he spoke with the GM and the GM admitted that the name Sod Poodles were brought to the "Name the Team Contest" by the branding agency (we all know who) and never was a fan submission. This is someone exposing the ownership group for their fake contests. Dusty is a hero in Amarillo to all of those who hate the name like me.- 8

Their independent team thought of that 20 years ago. Logo could use some work, but classy-looking uniforms.
That trademark is still held by Texas Professional Baseball, Inc just like the Amarillo Gold Sox trademark is now held by the City of Marysville, CA and the Yuba-Sutter Gold Sox.

2) Looks like they're trying to show hes poking out of his hole in the ground, the red may have not been the best idea lol
1I understand what they were trying to achieve, however, the execution does not translate well at all.

Really digging the logos, pretty well done for such an awful name lol
Why is the mascot pigeon-toed?
Why does it look like the secondary logo the Sod Poodles head was cut in half?- 1

There were a couple more logos released today, I am glad we didn't get the "Mascot swinging something like a bat"... but regardless this name is horrible.

This does not reflect our community at all.

I had the same thing happened to me, as well. More so via text than a Facebook message. Nonetheless, the logos are family friendly, and I can live with "Sod Dogs" more so than "Sod Poodles."
Nice to know there are other Bomb City friends on here!

I thought it was Sod Poodles?
They registered the names Sod Dogs and Soddies a while after the "Name the Team" contest. -

The link just goes to the MILB home page, is there another link or a screenshot? I believe the logos are real, just curious.
They removed the website because they leaked the images on their website first. I had the Director of PR messaging me on facebook begging me to take down my post showing the logos. lol -

Amarillo Armadillos would have been perfect.
Amarillo has already had a team called the "Dillas"...I would have been fine resurrecting the name for a major team as it was our longest lasting team other than the Gold Sox.

The five finalists are in for the name of the new Amarillo AA baseball franchise...here they are:
Boot Scooters,
Bronc Busters,
Jerky,
Long Haulers
Sod Poodles.

Well the Elmore Sports Group is letting Amarillo citizens name the new AA baseball team...

This is correct Primary Logo for the Amarillo Sod Poodles. The one listed currently on the mother ship is incorrect.
Also this is the Inaugural Season logo if needed.
