Dickinson is 3 hours from Minot and about the same to the Black Hills where the Spearfish and Rapid teams will be placed. Pretty reasonable distances for teams to travel in that area. I'm hoping this league maintains as I've always thought a minor league baseball system would do well there. Nothing else around besides amateur ball so hopefully the locals support it.

Super boring. Anyway I presume the owner is left handed and soon to have his pockets left without the money he puts into this team. Great town but no way they can support a WCL team.

Not without the King Paul's blessing. The Mighty Allen owns the Moda and without his direct involvement there will be no NHL in Portland. Which brings me to thinking there won't be big league hockey in the foreseeable future. Pretty sad because I think Portland and Seattle would be great markets. Been waiting for years and losing

Sad news. I always thought Bakersfield would be a great market for the Cal League if only the city and team could figure out how to get a better stadium than the sad sack Sam Lynn built in the 40's. No shocker though on High Desert...i too am surprised they lasted so long.

Also, if that were to happen, the AHL team would have a nicer, newer arena than the NHL team (not that the Tank is bad or anything). How often does that happen?

Grew up in both of the Dakotas and Fargo would be a great market.  Sioux Falls as well with their new 10,000 plus arena. Both cities have USHL teams with SF getting good attendance so I could definitely see AHL knocking on their doors soon.

I still think they'd be better off putting them in Saskatoon, Regina, or maybe even Fargo or Thunder Bay, but their attendance was 9th or 10th, if I remember correctly, they're at least having the arrangement work out.

Yeah I'm in total agreement with you especially with the San Jose situation. I figure they are waiting on one of the new arenas like Astro said and Winnipeg AHL will start to lag at some point so hopefully Thunder Bay can figure out their arena issue as that seems like a perfect fit. I'm still hoping the Canucks come knocking on Seattle's door again and puts the team in the Key since it looks like no new arena here for god knows how long for NHL.

No idea why it quoted discrimihater but anyway. Manitoba pulling in 7,000 plus last season for AHL hockey isn't too bad. There a lot worse cities out there

True shame that they're ditching the Zephyrs name. It never quite fit New Orleans but its one of my all time favorite names going back to their days in Denver. I remember getting a Denver Zephyrs card back in the day and loving the name but having no idea what the hell a Zephyr was...had to look it up in the dictionary but I was still a bit confused. Sad day but hopefully it will make a comeback somewhere someday soon.

Easier to move the AHL Coyotes from Tucson to Phoenix in two years when the NHL Coyotes move to Las Vegas. As a west coaster I am glad to see more AHL teams moving this way but it his sad to see the historical east coast teams losing out.

 The Big 10 can have Arizona State. They've already messed with tradition by killing the best college hockey conference in the WCHA so adding a desert hockey team to be "rivals" with Minnesota and Wisconsin makes perfect sense. Kill me now please.

Highschool team in the mid 90's had better jerseys. I know Kitsap has been hanging on by a thread but c'mon guys. This is no bueno.

Love the Gulls turnout for the logo/team unveiling which is awesome for west coast hockey. So what really concerns me is the goof ball responses to the whole AHL migration to the west. How about we embrace it and be happy for the spread of the great sport of HOCKEY. and be haaaappppyy!!!!!
