I dunno about that one. The Aā€™s have moved twice and are possibly about to make a third move (probably into some hyper modern dome/retractable roof stadium). I certainly wouldnā€™t want them to ditch their brand for something new. I think thatā€™s the thing about classic brands. If done right and with enough recognition, those brands should be able to transcend their location. Now, I wouldnā€™t argue that the Cardinals set is more iconic than, say, the Raiders, because that would be tremendously silly. But the truth of the matter is their brand is nearly a half century older than the Raiders (you could argue itā€™s closer to 80 years of you want to include pre NFL days, which Iā€™m hesitant to), and I really do think thereā€™s some heft to that that the Cardinals have never figure out how to utilize properly. And itā€™s kind of perfect for a place like Phoenix/Maricopa County, because that area lacks a lot of that classic culture just due to being a more recent city in terms of population growth (and thatā€™s not to knock the Phoenix or AZ culture, because itā€™s definitely rich in its own right. Itā€™s just more overlooked outside of the area). Ā Itā€™s definitely an area, mainly due to having so many transplants, thatā€™s more receptive to assimilating parts of another areaā€™s culture. You could even find a way to play up the old Chicago connection due to their being so many people who live there who are originally from the Chicagoland area. It might be a bit of a reach, but I think with enough tact, that could be done effectively. ā€œDid you leave Chicago because itā€™s too damn cold? Are you sick of the Bears? Well, so did the Cardinals! Come join Chicagoā€™sĀ otherĀ team!ā€ Or something like that, anyway.Ā

The thing is that the A's did a color change in 1963 from Red, White And Blue to Kelly Green and Gold. So, the A's set radically changed while in KC- about 3 yrs after leaving Philly.

  2. gee- sorry. I was posting what I have seen in the past as an almost certain lock. I have been a fan of the Miami Dolphins since 1977-watching every game I have had the ability to see. I have been to many gamesĀ  at the 2 stadiums they have played in. I am not an entitled millennial, just a fan expressing myself. I can guarantee that I will not be contributing any more to this subject as I don't need the aggravation.

Carry on with all the TBD you wish.šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

  3. A few things regarding the Dolphins:

When Shula took over (around the same time the NFL said the home team can wear white), he had the Dolphins wearing white at home for most day games (end of 1973 was the last of Aqua at home during the day vs the Lions) as a tactical advantage. The 9/16/73 home game vs SF had the road team nearly dehydrate on the field. SF QB John Brodie said as much. In the last few years, Miami has reintroduced Aqua home day games late in the season (mostly throwback unis) to appease the fanbase.Ā

As for the 1972 celebration, yes the SNF home game vs the Steelers will be the main celebration. However, past seasons show that Miami will don the throwbacks the maximum amount of times because the fans love it. I doubt we will see a September game in Miami with the Dolphins wearing Aqua. Tradition and making the road team bake on the sunny side of the field will pretty much make that a sure thing.

  4. I am hoping that any of the teams with their new all black head to toe unis end up with a scheduled game that ends up being played in 90+ degree weather. Watch the melting jets, Eagles, Panthers or Commanders teams being destroyed by the white clad visitors. #justice.
