  1. Completely and totally horrible uniform set. They were on track in some areas but then took the ideas and made them way too generic.

Some of it has the beautiful aspects of the throwbacks of the past except now it's a soulless, empty, generic, husk of what it's attempting to be.

The Twins organization absolutely blew it with this set.

That's a big reason why I'd want the Bills to go back to the red helmet full-time (or at least as the primary, given the elimination of the one-helmet rule): it would help them stand out more in their division and the rest of the league. The Colts already have the white/blue/white combo locked down; of course, the Colts don't have any red, but I still like the Bills being able to distinguish themselves even more. There aren't enough red helmets in the league.

I like the Jets having a green helmet too, although I wish it was closer to kelly green.

As long as the red helmet has the blue facemask.

I don’t know why they would want to recreate the look of their worst super bowl in their history, and one of the worst blowouts in super bowl history.

It wasn't all bad. The 1985 Patriots earned their first Superbowl appearance in franchise history as the wildcard team that defied the odds and reached the pinnacle of their conference.

Some possibilities for when they could wear them:

Week 1 at Miami - they wore the 09 version of the red jerseys at Miami, but never the current one. Wearing red and white may be more appealing in the September sun than the usual all navy, assuming Miami wears white at home. The Dolphins breaking out their throwbacks to make this an old-fashioned game would be fun!

Week 5 vs Detroit - the Pats have worn red against the Lions twice, although both were on Thanksgiving. They could opt to break them out for their 2nd home game.

Week 7 vs Chicago (MNF) - New England seems to like breaking out the throwbacks against NFC foes, and a Monday Night Football game seems like a prime opportunity to show them off. I won't be surprised if they'd rather the regular home uniform for the spotlight, though.

Week 9 vs Indy - this would be a very nice looking game, and it would break up the blue-fest that usually happens when these teams meet.

Week 11 vs NYJ - NE wore the throwbacks against the Jets in both 2011 and 2012. They seem to like the red vs green. Seeing it again would be anything but a shock.

Week 12 at Minnesota (Thanksgiving) - this is a stretch, with the Vikings either needing to wear white at home or for the NFL to give the go ahead for red vs purple for it to happen. But the Pats wore red against Minnesota in 2010, and they wore it on Thanksgiving in 2000 and 2010 at Detroit. This is unlikely, but given it's a holiday, the door must remain open.

Week 13 vs Buffalo (TNF) - this is the latest I could see the throwbacks making an appearance. Should the Pats want them to be worn in primetime, this is the only other opportunity at home besides the game against Chicago.

Historically, they've worn the reds once per season in October and again on Thanksgiving, should the team play then and the matchup work. The Pats have worn them exclusively against NFC or AFC East opponents. If they stick to wearing them once, the game against Detroit seems like the most likely for their return. If they wear them the maximum of 3 times, my guesses would be at Miami, vs Detroit, and against the Jets.

I'll start by saying that the Patriots throwbacks should be their full time uniform. They're perfect. They're gorgeous. It's easily their best uniform of all time and one of the very best in NFL history. And before anyone chimes in with the "They won multiple superbowls in flying elvis", laundry doesn't win championships. Players do.

As to when they might wear them, vs the Bears would make alot of sense in a uniform rematch of SB XX.

Any word on who the victims of the 'city edition' sets will be in '22?

Not all are victims. I'm a Cubs fan. But the White Sox City Edition Uniforms are fantastic. They should make them a permanent part of their rotation in 2022 and beyond.

They should've went with the old flying jet above the word "Jets" rather than the football underneath.

One day, someone will once again ask this question for the 800th time instead of scrolling back through this thread which happens to be the lone internet destination where literally every single piece of knowledge about 2021 NFL uniform changes that can be legally disseminated by members of the boards is harbored, and someone will come out of the woodwork to leak some scoop they were holding onto which no one else had any idea about until that moment, and all they were waiting for was someone to ask. Today is not that day.

See my post directly above this one.

  8. Is there a roundup of actual upcoming 2021 NFL uniform changes?

Not all of us obsess over and show up on this website every single day to follow where these threads go.

It's also impossible to sift through all of the off-topic banter and infighting to find actual to the point discussion/information about the topic at hand.

Do mods even exist here? It's probably a good idea for the first post to be updated periodically

  9. Born on the North Side of Chicago. Grew up in the Chicago area suburbs. Currently live in Maryland for the last 16 years.

For obvious reasons, I'm a fan of the:

    Bears

    Blackhawks

    Bulls

Baseball is a little bit sketchier. I started out life as a young White Sox fan in 1990 because of the Bo Jackson signing. Absolutely loved Frank Thomas too.

But White Sox management being involved in the construction of that God-awful stadium they play in, the 1994 MLB strike, the 1998 White Flag Trade, the constant empty seats, running the payroll like a mid-market team in the 3rd largest market in the country, and the hiring of former player lackeys/all out buffoons such as Terry Bevington, Jerry Manuel, Ozzie Guillen, Robin Ventura, and Kenny Williams wore extremely thin over the years.

I started rooting for the Cubs as my 2nd team in 2006/2007 after mom suddenly and tragically got sick and then passed on. She was always a North Side Cubs fan and always wanted me to root for them. So I did that to honor her. And why not? Chicago is fortunate enough to have two teams. Their "rivalry" was always pretty stupid. I'm living outside Chicago. I love my city. Why not root for them both to do well? They both represent the city I love.

But, the Drake/Adam LaRoche incident and Chris Sale jersey shredding tantrum were the last straws for me with the White Sox. The proverbial straws that broke the camel's back. I couldn't take it anymore. The White Sox are an absolute joke of an organization. Always have been. Their buffoonery long predates my time as a sports fan.

So I root solely for the Cubs. Even in an offseason like this one where the good vibes have all been White Sox heavy.

  10. Unfortunately the knockoff market has been booming for years now because the sports leagues and retail shops charge outrageously over inflated prices for a piece of clothing.

Granted, the authentics are of really nice quality but, IMO the quality still doesn't warrant a $300++++ dollar price tag. The reason the leagues, manufacturers, and retail stores charge as much as they do is because they can. There's no justifying these prices for what is essentially only a shirt but, someone is always willing to fork over the cash.
