Only one pic, but in the 1995-96 season, the original Minnesota Timberwolves getup met the new Seattle Supersonics (pictured here) uni/logo set, and the first-year Vancouver Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors. I do not have any pics for the other two matchups.

I actually wouldn't mind WRs number range be expanded to 10-29,80-89. That or just do 20-29,80-89. Leave 10-19 to QBs and K/P. Something about a WR jersey number in the 20s just looks awesome.

Agreed. But, I love single digit numbers on WRs and RBs as in college.

Surprised nobody's tried speculating on where Vegas' AHL affiliate will go (all signs indicate that the AHL will expand)

We KNOW it's gonna be out West...Reno seems like the most obvious pick, but they still can't get an arena built (an ECHL franchise has been dormant for thirteen years waiting on it).  Other possibilities include Fresno, Sacramento or Salt Lake City...

Probably Fresno --- but, man I'd love for the Grizzlies to be back in the AHL.

I respect your viewpoint, but in all the years of browsing concepts here, I have never seen anyone do a better version of the Bulls' logo than the one they have now, and there has been no shortage of attempts. I don't see what the Bulls have to gain by moving on from the Jordan era when Chicago Bulls merchandise is still a top seller here and abroad. Granted, I wouldn't mind Chicago on the roads the way the Celtics finally put Boston on theirs, but as far as home whites go, there's nothing to improve. No one who goes to a Bulls game should ever see them in anything else, and that goes for all the dopey alternates and one-offs they keep putting out, too.

Don't touch the logo. But, the jerseys could use a little refresher?

Honestly, though, I'd love to see them bring this road back ...

Some teams do it one way, some another. What's weird is not having a consistent policy:  I remember that, with the Mets, Howard Johnson wore "H. Johnson" while manager Davey Johnson wore "Johnson".

I think for a while Ozzie Smith continued to wear "Smith" after Lonnie Smith arived and wore "L. Smith"; but then Ozzie changed to "O. Smith".

Luckily, that's stopped in the NBA. I remember for years seeing K.Malone and J.Malone on the Jazz jerseys. I also believe M.Malone and J.Malone happened on the Bullets?

I think the NBA stopped doing that around 2003-04ish when Rasheed Wallace was traded to Detroit and teamed up with Big Ben.

Is this from an ASG or something, and he and Shaq switched warm-up jackets? I'm confused...all I know is he's wearing a Magic jacket and standing next to Karl Malone, who's wearing his regular Jazz jacket (at first I thought Lakers till I saw the green in the collar).

It's from the 1992 NBA All-Star Game (pre-Shaq) in Orlando -- Robinson forgot or lost his Spurs warmups.

  7. Sacramento's entry in the collegiate summer Great West League has been dubbed the Sacramento Stealth.

    Sacramento-Stealth-logo.png

Colors work fairly well for a team called the "Stealth," dark and subdued. But the logo's execution just seems...off. The script doesn't stand out at all against the "S," and the "Baseball Club" font is much too basic.

SEEMS off? It's horrible. It's completely off. Most likely made in Paint.

  8. Well, that sure is a pickle.

I had to do some digging for this, but I found an image with a better look at the Odgen Raptors' new identity. Apparently, this has been around for a month (posted on September 9):

    Ogden_Raptors_new_logo_960_2_fcead45w_95

It's an upgrade for certain (anything really would be). But... I think I don't like it. I was okay with it at first but now I'm less sure. The raptor still seems too cartoonish, I guess? The O feels off for some reason, the tongue feels out of place... I don't know. Plus they missed an opportunity to make it look like an actual raptor with feathers.

Also worth noting is this article: http://www.milb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20151008&content_id=153588884&fext=.jsp&vkey=news_milb&sid=milb It has all the changes detailed thus far, with a couple others. Notably, a new cap logo for the WV Power (pictured below) and some hat and uniform tweaks - Albuquerque now has a black-and-purple hat to go with their new alt, Lexington's moustached away cap is now the home cap, Peoria has a light-blue alt hat with a red brim, Kannapolis added sleeves to the home jerseys, and Tri-City now has numbers on the front of the home jersey.

The logo needs a squad of Raptors.

  9. During his career, Nolan Ryan recorded exactly 5,000 more strikeouts than Babe Ruth hit home runs (5,714 / 714).

The originally intended name for the Dallas Cowboys was the Texas Rangers.

The Chicago White Sox and San Francisco Giants each were tentatively sold to buyers who would have moved them to Tampa, but in each case MLB stepped in to prevent it.

At one point in the early history of the NBA, the city of Chicago (six - Cubs, White Sox, Bears, Cardinals, Black Hawks, Zephyrs) was home to more "big four" professional sports franchises than any other city, equalled only by New York (Dodgers, Giants, Yankees, Giants, Knickerbockers, Rangers).

Philadelphia is the only city (I think - I'm writing this at 5am while half-asleep so I could be wrong about this one) to have lost both professional baseball (A's) and basketball (Warriors) franchises, yet which has both professional baseball (Phillies) and basketball (76ers) franchises today.

By the time they had taken the court as an expansion team, the Miami Heat had already signed a player to a contract whose total value exceeded its expansion fee (Rony Seikaly - sp?)

New York metropolian area technicality has nine teams now (Yankees, Mets, Giants, Jets, Knicks, Nets, Rangers, Islanders, and Devils).

Thus the qualifier "At one point in the early history of the NBA..."

Actually ... that wouldn't be the Zephyrs/Packers team (1961-63), it would have been the Stags (1946-50) ... if you're including the Giants and Dodgers (who both skipped down in '57).

But, it still holds true in '61 when the Giants and Dodgers were in California and the Mets weren't active yet until the next year.

  10. Last year of those Sixers unis vs Only year of those Bobcats unis:

    Philadelphia+76ers+v+Charlotte+Bobcats+n

What year was that? That seems wrong to me?

    2007-08

Yeah 07-08. The striping on the 76ers uniforms were different than in previous seasons as well.

What's different about those Bobcat jerseys? Aren't those the same ones worn since 2004-05 when they started?

Only year Horry/Cassell played in those 1990s-ized Rockets unis after winning titles in the old classic red/white/yellow unis (After '96, both were involved in the Barkley trade)

And, speaking of Horry and Cassell both of them in a Suns' jersey is even rarer since both were traded before mid-season.

    Sam-Cassell-(1996-97).jpg?itok=nnKNgGlE

Oh, and let's not forget the 16 games he played in Dallas ...

    2516-691410Bk.jpg

And, I guess we should also throw the 23 games he played in the old Nets uniforms ...
