I think Canton got cut because nobody could decide who among the Maulers, Generals or Stars would be Canton.

The Canton operation of the USFL had been doing marketing in the Cleveland area within the last month or so.  'Pop up tents' with a spin the wheel for prizes at local shopping areas promoting tickets for the USFL in Canton.

    I guess, all for not.

  2. Columbus also did a quick backtrack with the name (Columbus SC), and took the triangle out of the logo and replaced it with the 96.

Also, Portland when they unveiled their MLS logo, the fans / Timbers Army revolted, and they came out with a slightly revised logo.

  3. The Browns helmets, depending on the type of helmet, some look (like the PK) straight matte finish.  Others look more like a semi gloss.  Bugs me.

I just wish they would go back to a glossy finish and white facemasks.

  4. Crew season ticket member here.  I agree on the comments about the best of three with no extra-time straight to penalties.

Apple TV wanted more playoff games versus the single knockout format.  Accordingly, I thought the league would go back to two-legged aggregate.  But two-legged aggregate  can lead to some not so great matches in the first leg.

Therefore, I think they went with best of three as it would make more compelling TV.  (Pure speculation on my part).  And with the potential of three matches in eight days, MLS chose to go straight to penalties.  It does seem strange though.

I hope Notre Dame leave UA just so they can have bigger numbers on their football uniforms. Why are the numbers so small on UA’s football uniforms? The UA number font is too skinny too.

This is what I meant to quote.  Totally agree that the ND uni numbers are too small and thin.  Also, not a fan of the current tint of UA's version of ND's pants.

I'd like to see Notre Dame go with Nike, I don't see them as a Jordan team.

I would bet they probably stay with Under Armour though, the AD's son works there.

Totally agree with this.  Also, if ND switches I wouldn't mind seeing them tweek the pants color.

  7. Maybe they are waiting for the upcoming renovations to Progressive Field, but there currently is not much Guardians branding throughout the concourses at the stadium.

Plenty of dark blue (navy) and red on the old signage, but hardly any Guardians, G-ball logo, or even the new C.

My beef with the "G" is twofold:

    1.  This cannot be separated from my OCD, but I don't like seeing a patch on the right sleeve while the left sleeve is blank.
    2. Even though you cannot see it, the logo certainly implies that there's a backwards G on the other side. This seems like something that should have killed the logo during its creation.

I like what the team did with the Guardians.  But I totally agree with point 1. above.

The sleeve patch on the right sleeve instead of the left drives me crazy.  I wish they would have put it on the traditional left sleeve (even though it would be 'backwards').

These are for sale online(not going to say where and promote this likely fraudulent business), but it's basically what I expect from the Cavs.

"Cavs" on front of all jerseys, in metallic looking silicone-coated gold on both Maroon and Black jerseys,  with very minimal trim. On the white jersey "Cavs" in maroon with gold inline, again with very minimal trim. I predict they'll be leaning on metallic gold being the calling card of their minimalist uniforms rather than an over-the-top design.

Uh, I HATE gradients.  But with what you are saying above, that reminds me, it was mentioned that it was going to be a 'new' type of application for the wordmark on the jersey.  So, the above seems to be inline with that.

This is the same guy who did the Spurs leak (although every knew about that by then, so grains of salt neccessary.)

    And another bad photoshop:

I read in a cleveland.com article / interview with the young guy the Cavs hired for the head of branding, that the new uniforms are not going to have any trim on the outside of the shoulders.

He also said the 'C' would not be their main visual identity (I take it that means the new CAVS wordmark will take that spot).  He also mentioned he did not want a bunch of secondary logos mucking up the brand (my words).

My guess is the new unis are going to be rather simplistic.  (Hopefully not to the likes of Utah).

    My other thoughts

Logo - not bad,but the shadow on the nickname is unnecessary.

Home uniform - cap logo is too large, but that's been an issue with Frontier League cap logos for almost two decades (Canton Crocodiles had the same issue), rest of uniform is great

Road uniform - would've preferred a gray jersey with a purple third with "Crushers" on the front, but does anybody in the FL have a gray jersey?, otherwise not bad

The dark gray road hat has the full wordmark / logo on it.  Who does that?  Totally looks like a souvenir hat, not an on field hat of a professional baseball team.
