Could we get a confirmation from Conrad that these are in fact the Pistons new alternate logos? I remember him saying recently that he'd seen them.

If this is really all they have to unveil, then it's quite disappointing.

  2. Pistons secondaries in team store Twitter post. Interlocking one looks like LAC leftover (D even like a C).

Is that a ball/piston going through the D other one, recalling a B for Detroit Basketball? Can't tell.

    Neither are any good.

  3. A couple of thoughts (Thanks to Conrad):

Now that it's "official" is anyone surprised that the design is SO close to the old Bad Boys era logo? I would think this will take a significant bite out of their HWC sales.

Also, this has to be an extremely rare instance of a parent club changing its logo to match its afiliate.

Actually, I LOVE the WCF on the sleeves. He was obviously a huge part of the Lions, and the way the incorporated the look of the old logo is great. After seeing these closer, I like em. not a fan of the blue pants AT ALL, and I kinda wish there was more white in the striping patterns, but overall? Not too shabby.

He was a huge part of the Lions :censored:tiness. Embarrassing that they think he's on par with GSH.

This gets by a lot of people, but the new (old) logo is also a piston in a cylinder viewed from above.

I feel like that's lost with the 17-18 logo though. The piston heads are now ovals.

I'm hoping they at least introduce an alternate logo that somehow signifies the city of Detroit (like you know, vehicles... which I guess is what Detroit is only known for).

This is the secondary that made the rounds last year:

They've been half assedly introducing that logo, neither confirming nor denying that it will be the new primary for the past year and a half.

Oh, I know. But the logo is prominent on a high-profile collectible/giveaway. Seems like a fairly good indicator.

I'm hoping they officially go with something like this and start fresh at the LCA. I know it's basically just a rehash/modernization/blend of a couple of looks, but it's clean. They also need to start a new era. The past few years (this season especially) have been complete disasters and void of any identity whatsoever.

Agreed. And I'm taking the above picture as confirmation of them doing exactly that.

Regarding the Pistons- take it for what it`s worth but all the renderings of the facility show the current logo and not the suspected new logo.

Oh, it's the new logo, they just *think* they're being cute. So irritating.

  10. The Pistons are having commemorative nights to honor the last season at the Palace, and they honored their longtime pbp guy at halftime last night. Different banners were displayed on-court at halftime, all with the new logo prominently featured like this one I capped from a video in the team Twitter feed:

Me thinks Tom Gores doesn't get it.  Or he gets it but prefers the Grant Hill era logo more.  If they win again, they can wear whatever they want, but since this is the stuff they wore when they last won (1989 and 1990; 2004 is basically a throwback to those title seasons anyway), they would be smart to go back to this theme, especially if the league lets them.  This is almost identical to the old logo with the exception of the font; the Hawks couldn't go back to the logo and while some people like the new Pac-Man logo better, I'll always miss the Dominique Hawkins Pac-Man logo.

The fact that this cap was actually manufactured tells me that the league has approved the logo and it's simply the Pistons' call. If it's up to the fans, I can't imagine them not going with this.

The Pistons have upgraded their floor for the upcoming season. Saw pictures of the minor upgrades today. Baselines have a bolder DETROIT PISTONS label at the end; a Detroit Basketball logo is at the bottom of center court on the sideline; and they've added more text on the sidelines (couldn't make it out in the first picture I saw).

The center court logo font is different than what's on the baseline (shadow-wise). Ridiculous. Change the logo already!
