Oregon State doesn't need to do that because their name is OSU, it doesn't matter at all if there's other OSU's

Ignorant thinking. Look, let's call a spade a spade, not everyone who watches sports is as deep into it as we are. Having OSU, while simplifying the uniform, is pretty dumb. Those casual fans don't know the difference between Ohio State, Oklahoma State, and Oregon State. They just see OSU and will ask who the opposing team is playing. Be simple and straight forward and put the school name or nickname on the jersey. It's not that hard.

Hard to get that info, as I believe only the team operated stores at the venue were able to sell them.

So the Kings are selling their home jerseys with Mercury Insurance patches on them, and in the 6 games I've been to this year, I can't remember seeing anyone buy one or wearing one in the arena... so with that knowledge, they're not selling well in LA.

Is it just me or does it bug anyone else when LSU wears their white pants and helmets with the purple jerseys like tonight vs GA State? The purple jersey is already rare enough for LSU, but for some reason they have this weird obsession with pairing it with the white helmets and pants rather than the gold in recent years. The white helmets and jerseys are NOT superior to the gold.

Also, with as traditional and iconic as LSU’s uniforms are, any other “off” or gimmicky combo is just annoying and dumb.

It bugs me too. I wish they would ditch the white helmets and pants or do an all white look for a game. I just wish the purple jerseys were the primary home jerseys as they are the superior look with the yellow helmets and pants.

I don’t remember this being so obvious in the past. Could it be the new materials/template? It makes the helmet look damn near red compared to the jersey

I looked up their home games this year and it looks like the colors are similar. So what I'm thinking is the issue the television camera exposure  with the sun beating down on the jersey is giving it the flat look.  Realize that the jersey will suck in the light to the camera vs the helmet which is plastic and the light bounces off of it making it more reflective and hold the color better. If you want to see this, watch a movie on a white bed sheet and how the colors are so dull.

How long has it been a thing for NHL teams to add their own little decorative alt logos to the centrelines on the rink? I'm liking this new trend...

It's been going on for years. I can say at least 10-12 from what I can remember. Somewhere around 2010 or 2012 I remember the Kings started doing that and I think a few of them were doing it prior to that.

It looks like a yellow variant of the Country Roads design.

Are the numbers thicker than normal? That's always been my biggest beef with West Virginia's number. I can deal with the cutsie, but just don't make pencil thin numbers.

If the Bruins wanted to fulfil their G-d given right to represent the East in the SCF they could have finished off the Panthers when they were up 3-1. Or 3-2. Or when they had the lead with a minute to go in game seven.

You're acting indignant because the hockey gods aren't giving you an EC#1 vs WC#1 matchup but... pssst... the hockey gods aren't real. That matchup not happening is on the Bruins not getting it done and no one else.

The Hockey Gods are real.... hence why the President's Cup winner has won the Stanley Cup as many times as they've been knocked out of the 1st round. 8 times. They like to screw with each and every fanbase. And since the Vegas fanbase has started to realize how really difficult getting to the Cup is, the Hockey Gods have decided to screw with Boston this year.

In all reality, if you looked at the who advanced up through Saturday night, it was all the higher seeds. So inevitably there were bound to be some upsets. I don't know what the odds are, but I'm pretty sure that probably most Stanley Cup playoff years have 2-3 lower seeds moving on. I'd be curious to see the last year that all the higher seeds moved on into the second round.

Maybe this is an unpopular opinion, but that gold looks terrible next to the orange.  Assuming this will only be worn for opening weekend, it would have made more sense to drop the orange and just go with gold and navy. And it's not like this franchise hasn't worn those colors before.

It's not a terrible opinion. It's the option that many people have of the Anaheim Ducks colors (black, gold/bronze and orange). The orange and the gold are of the same tone therefore they complete/clash with each other.

Watched my first hockey game in a couple weeks last night. When did Bally start doing the puck tracker and player labels on power plays? And why only on power plays? I was surprised by how much I didn't hate the puck tail, but the player labels that pop up the instant a player touches the puck were very annoying and unnecessary. I remember the FoxTrax and glow puck being too much 90's, but the little black tail on the puck wasn't bad.

For Kings games they started it on Thursday night and hopefully it dies like their parent company. In replays it's fine, during live play, it's distracting. They're treating us like idiots with the puck tracker.

  10. I look at the flag code like I look at NBA uniforms... I don't know what team is what and what is home and what is road and no one cares. The flag code is similar, I think the only people who know about the flag  code are the people in the forum who keep quoting it. How many times do you see a girl farting on a flag bikini or a slob wiping his mouth with a flag napkin. Do we really respect the flag? I've come to the conclusion that the flag code is similar to the pirate code, in that in only applies if you're a flag.

I mean, gambling is a pretty major social ill, so of course highlighting the tribe looks less crass. But that's like applauding the old NASCAR paint jobs where they took the lettering off the Marlboro logo because it highlighted aesthetically pleasing geometric design.

Marlboro never has sponsored a NASCAR car. Winston on the other hand sponsored the top series, the all-star race and even Jimmy Spencer's car. Plenty of Tobacco brands were plastered across NASCAR, so you're using a bad example.

If I didn't know better, I'd wonder why BYU was wearing the letter K on their helmets.

I know the checkerboard era has been divisive for Kentucky fans, but it's been a net positive for their football program, which finally has a look to call their own.

That's actually funny. I swear when I was younger and was watching BYU my dad would always ask me why I'm watching Yale.

^ y’all sound like guys whose team ain’t never won a natty

On a serious note, are they gonna paint the endzones black? As of tonight - 21 hours to kickoff - and the field still looks like this.

    spacer.png

I would be fine with plain green endzones (not preferred but it’s fine), however, they still have heavy hints of blue from either the Rams or Chargers. Also, the CFP logo at midfield is outlined in black while the endzone logos are not. I was certain the endzones would be black a couple days ago, but now I’m not sure. If they were going to paint them black, you’d have thought they’d have a first coat down at a minimum. Perhaps it’s quick drying and they can still do it? Maybe they’ll spot spray some green over the blue?

Since I never went to a school that had a football program...  I never had a team to have a chance to win a natty.  *lol*

The Guardians have no case here. No one is going to look at that logo and think "Is this random business two states away that I've never heard of affiliated with the baseball team?" even if they did, you can't claim copyright infringement on a simple design element like a block C. It's too simple to claim intellectual ownership of. Hate it when big name brands dunk on tiny local businesses like this just for a quick buck.

The Guardians do have a case here. I know people are going to hate this, but if they still own the trademark to their old "c", throwing a lighting bolt over the "c" can be construed as trademark infringement. Remember that in a court of law, it's not length of use ( the Indians win that one as they've used the block "c" as far back as the 80's), but whether a person who knows nothing about the team could confuse the two logos and therefore cause damage ($ or reputation). It sounds bad, but he is actually swimming an uphill stream on this and more than likely will have to change his logo. I get that the block "c" is generic, but if Cleveland still has the trademark to it and did not give it up when they changed to Guardians, they have rights. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
