Thanks for the feedback! I really appreciate it.

Yeah, I'm not 100% sold on it, either. I was really just trying to combine Seattle's home and Sunday alts into one design, as I did with Philly.

    CINCINNATI REDS

    HOME:

    ROAD:

    HOME ALT:

    ROAD ALT:

    CITY CONNECT:
    Reds-City-Connect.png

    Notes:

    - The Reds get a new home throwback based on their 1936 look, which embraced the team’s “Redlegs” nickname.

    - Pinstripes return to the home uniform to set the new throwback jersey apart a bit more. I think I've determined this is my all-time favorite look of Cincinnati's.

    - Black is scrubbed from the four main uniforms, both to produce a cleaner look and to make the color unique to the team’s City Connect set.

    - Cincy's Spring Training jersey is reportedly listed in MLB’s 2024 Style Guide as “Alt 2,” which means it could technically be worn during the regular season. To my knowledge it never has, but I think I prefer it to their other red alt, as it reminds me of this great look from 1956 and would make the script “Reds” exclusive to the throwback.
    - The City Connect tweak is one I previously shared, the only real change being the wordmark and numbers now match the style of the cap logo.

    C&C appreciated!

I like the one with the red pants

Venom with a Snake or Scorpion themed identity and a purple-based color scheme could work well.

Blizzard is just a bit too similar to Avalanche for me as @FinsUp1214 said.

In general, I don't know if I've heard a nickname that I've totally fallen in love with and I think that a lot of that is due to the fact that it's hard to pair "Utah" with a nickname that compliments it well. Alliteration is basically impossible and some of the more organic options like Yellowjackets infringe too much on existing team names.

Utah Yeti is a popular name getting thrown around and it is a half alliteration or whatever

Utah Raptors is a thing in real life, only issue is the existing NBA team however it wouldn't bother me personally if the name was repeated.

Is there any precedent for that in the modern era (team name change just because they didn't like it, not because of outside pressure)?

I'm surprised and also not surprised that they don't have this figured out already.  They couldn't really pay 10s to 00s of thousands to anyone to start working on an identity before they knew they had a team, because it could be a waste and possibly set people up for a big let down if it leaked.

This is generally a once-in-a-franchise's-lifetime decision.  It's probably better that they're taking the WFT strategy than potentially flubbing it up (granted, WFT completely flubbed it, but hopefully these guys are a little more competent.)

Only one I can think of is Devil Rays to Rays.  And that was barely a change.

    Brooklyn Bats (Nets)

Here is the full set for Brooklyn. They too get a grey away to go with the white home. I then decided to make their Icon uniform into an alternate and skip their Statement uniform as it felt very redundant having 2 black alternates that would end up looking very similar. For the City uniform I went with their 2019-20 City Edition.

This is a clean look for a baseball team, love how it's just black and white

They are, and cap collectors are taking notice.

Back in my 20s I had a bit of a hat collecting problem (spending a decade working for New Era and Lids/GenesCo didn’t help, either), and now have a few hundred old poly US made 59Fiftys. I thought for a long time that it was a waste of money and space, but with the demand going up so heavily on these things (because you literally CANNOT get them in the same quality any longer), it’s actually worth quite a bit of money now. Like, probably MORE than what I initially paid for all of those stupid hats.

How many hats did you end up having?  I actually have a bit of a hat spending problem...but baseball hats are just so cool.

There's a good column today detailing this pivot by companies from planned obsolescence to active consumer hostility. More and more companies are now waving it in our faces with "yeah, our product is worse now, what are YOU gonna do about it" and having it happen in something as familiar and comforting as baseball (and not just on the uniform front, either) strikes a nerve in a way the tech overlords' bullcrap or constantly shrinking ice cream cartons doesn't, and it also makes consumers more aware of the increasing frequency at which we are being rawdogged.

This is arguably happening with Marvel/Star Wars/other entertainment stuff too

I feel you, except...Fanatics also owns Mitchell & Ness now (and I believe '47 Brand, too). M&N's stuff ain't what it used to be when it was still its own little independent shop. Doggone shame, too.

    Does fanatics own New Era?

Purple is a hard color to get consistent and the Rockies have always seemed to struggle more than most. I know many of us here have advocated for a more desaturated "purple mountains majesty" shade so that it would be a little harder to shift into blue.

That's part of the reason the D'backs ditched purple

I am watching Pirates-Nationals on the SportsNet Pittsburgh feed, and the difference in grey tops and bottoms for the Buccos is VERY APPARENT.

Is it that their tops are more blue than the pants?  Otherwise I'm not seeing anything.

I’ve thought about this, and while I wish the city could’ve demanded that they changed their name to the Sacramento RiverCats (I get that it’s a crazy and unreasonable idea), them playing a game or two in RiverCats “Throwbacks” would be close enough, and would fulfill one of my oldest sports fantasies.

How about this (not serious). We dissolve the Athletics.   A different AAA team every year gets a turn to be a "major league" team.  RiverCats are first up.

Did they say if they’re keeping the Oakland A’s name, or if they’re the Las Vegas A’s (of Sacramento), or the Sacramento A’s?

Also… I thought there were snags in the LV deal and it was still far from a done deal.

I think it's been reported they're going to just brand themselves as "The Athletics".  Who knows what the "official official" name would be.

Well, they did pass the measure so they have the money from the government.  I'd wager any snags come from Ballys who apparently are not doing well and are the ones who control the land the Athletics want to use on the Strip.  The renderings they released were not very detailed and indicate they have a lot to iron out.

Won't Triple-A have to re-do their schedules to make this work? I thought they had all shifted to the Tue-Sun schedule with Monday off as a travel day.

They haven't made the 2025 MLB schedule yet.  I'm guessing they can work around that?  They can schedule A's games when the RiverCats aren't in town
