Their mistake is that they are trying to emulate things like the Champions League. Nobody really cares about this because there’s nothing different. It’s the same teams in the same season, just with extra steps that don’t really mean anything. The NBA Cup will always be secondary to the Finals.

As for the courts, nothing really needs to be said outside of I can’t imagine any of those looking even remotely good. There’s a reason that courts aren’t treated like how Boise State treats their blue turf. It just doesn’t look natural.

This is less Champions League and more Carabao Cup. Maybe some day some mediocre team with no hope of winning the actual title will win it, and be excited, but for teams with actual title hopes? Meh, they’ll treat it like a midseason game.

The Bucks still haven’t fixed their court??

They officially released it today. I find it interesting they went with a whole new court. I don't really like this one as much. I prefer just the deer head to the whole logo at center court. I also don't like that the cream sideline is a seemingly random percentage of the out of bounds area, and not half.

Can you expand on what you mean by this? Although I personally like the People's Flag, I actually don't know much about its creation.

Essentially the organization that did the People's Flag did an online contest, with no outreach to the Northside or Southside neighborhoods. If you weren't tied into the right social media, you didn't know it was happening. In the end it was  Bay View, Eastside and Washington Heights who really voted. They also had no Spanish or Hmong literature for the process. When the alders pointed this out, the People's Flag group pushed back with editorials about how they have already had buy in from so many places (again, see the flags in Bay View, Eastside etc.). So my personal take is, like a lot of things in Milwaukee, the predominately white neighborhoods decided something was great, and expected the predominately non-white neighborhoods to follow along. This is the basis of my dislike of the flag (it's also why it didn't become the official flag).

There are some other qualms about the genericness of the design (like how Reno came up with a nearly identical flag independent of Milwaukee's flag). Here are a couple of articles.

First, I appreciate that this more matches the actual city flag, and not the People's Flag, which I, personally, hate (I know I'm in the minority on this but the lack of inclusivity when it was designed and rolled out, tied to the complete genericness of the design make it a no go for me).

Also, for some reason the script gives me Milwaukee Record vibes, but I can't exactly put my finger on why, since they are noticeably different, I just can't shake it.

All that said I find it super amusing that the first "Tavern of the Game"  for the City Connect jersey is in Sullivan.

It's not quite as distinct from the rest of its home state as Chicago is (once you're past the outer suburbs Illinois turns into Kentucky), but it would be very cool if the Brewers leaned into Milwaukee's specific character.

The Bucks have sorta taken the mantle of "Milwaukee's team" IMO, and really leaned hard into being a Milwaukee specific team. The Brewers have sorta trended the other way, trying to reach out to the state. I'm hoping the Brewers reverse this trend with a city specific concept, but I'm not holding my breath.

  6. Yes again, everyone knows the pairing of the Big O and Lew Alcindor was a big deal but despite what you think, it?s never brought up, it?s lost in the pages of time. So again, it?s cool to a nice banner big bold letters reminding everyone that comes to town, IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED, and the Bucks were legit at one time! :D

It's actually a little depressing to go in there and realize that through the early '80s the Bucks were a dominate team in the NBA, but could never get over that hump to get back to the championship and now are cellar dwellers. They won the Midwest Division title every year between 1980-86 and made it to the Conference finals 3 times in that frame. Between the time that the Bucks were born ('68-'69) and Kohl bought the team ('85-'86) the Bucks missed the playoffs only 4 times, won 2 Conference and 1 NBA title. Since Sen. Kohl bought the team they have missed the playoffs 12 times. It's still shocking to me that the franchise as a whole is still 100 games over .500, despite their awfulness of late.

Back on topic, I really like how the Bucks and Marquette handled their retired numbers. The Bucks with an image of the uniform worn, and Marquette with a picture, coloring and lettering of the uniform worn.

  7. Here are some Bucks, Marquette and Admirals banners from the Bradley Center. The Bucks divisional Banners surround the scoreboard, and the World Champions banner is at the south end. Marquette and Admirals banners are in opposite corners of the arena. Sorry for the quality I snapped them from my phone:

I like the way both Marquette and the Bucks handled the retired numbers. I also appreciate that Marquette hasn't replaced the banners that say Marquette Warriors.
