amare32
...or at least my fantasy baseball team. Here are the keeper candidates for my FLB squad. It's an ESPN 5x5 roto league and I get to keep 5 players. I tend to favor offense when picking keepers, on the theory that batters are more consistent than pitchers and that pitchers are easier to find on the waiver wire. I think I've got a few mortal locks for keeperdom, but there are a handful of open slots. Your input is appreciated.Mortal Lock Division - Cos MVP candidates are keepers, period.Albert Pujols - 515 AB, 118 R, 43 HR, 108 RBI, 5 SB, .330 BAAdrian Beltre -515 AB, 94 R, 44 HR, 102 RBI, 4 SB, .340 BASolid Candidate DivisionHideki Matsui - 502 AB, 94 R, 25 HR, 93 RBI, 3 SB, .297 BACarlos Lee - 505 AB, 85 R, 26 HR, 87 RBI, 9 SB, .307 BABest of the RestCarlos Zambrano - 176.1 IP, 13 W, 160 K, 2.86 ERA, 1.20 WHIPBrad Lidge - 80.0 IP, 4 W, 21 SV, 129 K, 2.02 ERA, 0.94 WHIPArmando Benitez - 61.1 IP, 2 W, 41 SV, 58 K, 1.03 ERA, 0.78 WHIPMarcus Giles - 296 AB, 47 R, 5 HR, 36 RBI, 12 SB, .297 BASean Casey - 484 AB, 87 R, 23 HR, 89 RBI, 2 SB, .337 BA* Statistics current through 09/08/04. CaolinaJoe
Zambrano, Giles, Lee. I would add those to Pujols and Beltre.Zambrano is a solid pitcher, I'd suggest keeping atleast him for your staff. Although the releiver give you decent save, whip, & ERA.Giles is another good young player. 2B with power are always a good place to start with at keeper.Lee, IMO, is a superstar just waiting to happen.Casey could work, but I think this year is more of a career year than what you have to look forward to.Really none of them are bad choices. Tough, but I usually stick with the guys who have a better supporting cast. "It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of thepress. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom ofspeech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given usthe freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes theflag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, andwho allows the protester to burn the flag."Marine Chaplain Dennis Edward O' Brien
