Ez Street
From: http://www.kansascityoutlaws.com/team/news/?id=1270January 6, 2005 - The Kansas City Outlaws are preparing for the Martin Luther King Day hockey festival and fundraiser, to benefit Kansas City's Negro Leagues Baseball Museum and the Surviving Spouse and Family Endowment Fund (SAFE). This event is a partnership between the Outlaws, the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Metropolitan Crime Commission, and NHL Alumni. On January 17th at Noon, the Outlaws will host the Muskegon Fury. During this game, Outlaw players will wear special Kansas City Monarchs hockey jerseys, adorned with the names of former Monarchs players. After the Outlaws-Fury game, a team of former NHL players will face off against a team of former Kansas City Royals in a special alumni game. Jerseys from both games will be subject of an auction, with proceeds benefitting SAFE. Firefighters and police will sell tickets to this event, with a portion of the proceeds benefitting SAFE. SAFE provides immediate financial assistance to families of police officers, firefighters, and emergency services personnel who have been killed in the line of duty. The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum will also sell tickets, with a portion of their sales benefitting the museum. @DavidStreeter
thejroll
This is part of what makes minor league sports the best. They can do things that the professionals just cant in terms of playing tribute to different things.
