lets_go_red
I will start by saying this...my idea is ambitious but feasible somewhere in the future. My idea is modled after the Basketball tournament, but the field is 24 teams consisting of 4 regions of six teams...the top 8 overall seeds recieve first round byes. Every FBS (Division 1) Conference Champion recieves an automatic bid, yes that includes the Sun Belt and other such conferences. As for venues, I used NFL Stadiums that were not in use the week the college playoffs would be held there...venues are to be determined before the season starts, I determined sights before the tournament bracket was set. As for seeding, it is based off of the final BCS Rankings (although I started this Sunday Morning, the BCS Rankings weren't out yet...so I decided to use the L-G-R Rankings ) teams 1-4 get #1 seeds...so on and so forth. As in the Basketball Tournament, the bracket is based as highest overall seed play lowest overall seed, but a team may move regions if the Committee decides to for 1) Travel Reasons 2) Two Conference Opponents are already in the Region. However a team may not move regional seeds in the regional change...ie the #4 overall seed can not be a #2 regional seed and the #5 overall seed can not be a #1 regional seed.As far as bowl games...the dates of tournament games allow teams eliminated before the National Semi-Finals to compete in bowl games. The National Semi-Finals can themselves be bowl games (look where they are being played) and the current BCS bowls would rotate having a game between eliminated teams, the semi-final games, and the national championship, kind of like the National Championship used to rotate among the BCS Bowls. In my tournament the Rose Bowl is the game between eliminated teams, the Sugar Bowl is the National Championship, and the Orange and Fiesta Bowls are Semi-Finals.Without further a do....the Lets_Go_Red National Rankings:1. Ohio State Buckeyes 35 - North Regional Final- A blow for blow game, with both teams scoring touchdowns early in the fourth quarter. Ohio State had just scored again to tie the game, and got the ball back with just under 5 minutes left. OSU was driving until Brock Christopher intercepted a pass and returned it 84 yards for the TD. The score would hold up as the game winner.4) Missouri Tigers 16 v. Wes Virginia Mountaineers 17 - National Semi Final- Missouri missed an extra point to tie the game at 14 in the 3rd quarter and led 16 to 14 in the late stages of the fourth. But Pat White and the Mountaineers last minute drive set up a game winning Field Goal as time expired.3) Illinois Fighting Illini 20 v. Louisiana State Tigers 14 - South Regional Semi Final- With 3 seconds left in the game, tied at 14, LSU had the ball at mid-field and attempted a hail mary...it was picked off by Illinois's Kevin Mitchell and returned for a touchdown with no time left.2) Missouri Tigers 34 v. Arizona Sun Devils 31 OT - North Regional Semi Final- The Sun Devils have a pass intercepted in the end zone but force a fumble in the endzone, on the same play...recover it and score a Touchdown with 26 seconds left to force OT. Sun Devils miss a 50 yard Field Goal in OT, Mizzou's Adam Crossett hits a 42 yard Field Goal to win.1) Ohio State Buckeyes 38 v. Wisconsin Badgers 34 - North Regional Semi Final- Early in the game Ohio State scored on a 92 yard Kickoff return, but on the insuing kickoff Wisconsin returns it 102 yards. Going into the 4th Ohio State led 31-10, but Wisconsin rallied for 24 consecutive points to tak a 34-31 lead. But Todd Boeckman led an 8 play 76 yard drive to put the Buckeyes ahead with 7 seconds left. Wisconsin took the kick back to the OSU 20, but couldnt muster enough.
