Deuce McAllister, Team Player

Deuce McAllister has been a warrior since the first day he put on the black and gold. Many players who have carried the load for their team the way he has would pout and whine if the team brought in an experienced former star who plays the same position. Shaun Alexander is visiting the Saints today, and here's Deuce's reaction:

"I anticipate they'll continue to look at veteran running backs," McAllister said. "They have to have some protection just in case there are any setbacks with my rehab, even though there haven't been any. It never hurts to have a Plan B."

As always, a class act.

It was also refreshing to see how the Saints and Deuce sat down like rational adults and reworked his contract for this year. He was due a huge bonus but agreed to take just part of it, and to reduce his guaranteed salary with the rest available through performance incentives. Both sides called the agreement fair given the situation.

Nice that a player and a team can protect both sides' interests without a lot of BS posturing.
