BlueSky
They're the "Aints" no more, and Saints fans said goodbye yesterday to the nickname born during the 1980 season (and the paper bags too) in their own unique way: a jazz funeral. Saints Fans Bury the PastDuring the '80 season, the Saints went 1-15 and sportscaster Buddy Diliberto appeared on his weekly Saints show wearing a bag over his head. Buddy D. also made a famous promise to parade down Bourbon Street in a dress if the Saints ever made the Super Bowl. Buddy D. died in 2005, so former Saints QB Bobby Hebert, who replaced Buddy D. at WWL radio, recently honored Buddy's memory by paying off the bet. Only in New Orleans.
