so VT is going to be mindful enough of the fact they need to go back to something more traditional, but also are willing to throw a generic script on a helmet like every other G5 school is doing when you have that iconic VT?

equipment managers across the country need to have to report to a board, and we need to have at least three people on it

Bold of you to think that the equipment managers decide that... in most cases, look towards the head coach

For the longest time UConn's football team seemed to be strictly blue, silver and white as opposed to the blue, white and red of the other sports. Always bothered me.

    Example:

    vs.

It's because Randy Edsall didn't like red.

In his first run at the university, he eliminated red from all their uniforms and gear. And all the sports were pretty much on their own islands (men's and women basketball each had their own logos, baseball had the hook C), so it didn't matter.  Right before he left, they started the push to standardize their logos. That's when they got the current husky logo they have now. Randy left before he had to use it.

By the time he returned, it looks like they loosened the reigns a bit, because he went back to the block C logo he used that they previously retired. Again, he got rid of red from the uniforms (but they still had red on some gear).  Then he got sacked. LOL

I appreciate that insight. Right now it is just for personal use and for fun because I want this concept to exist in the world and share it with fellow Bears fans (and I would not be using it to make apparel myself - ever), but I do have a few people I know to contact that are at the university and I want to at least suggest that they consider something like this for the university. Even if I would expect that if they like the idea (and that is a big if) they probably would have a professional recreate it and do a better job than I did. But what I wouldn't want to do is send something that uses someone else's intellectual and creative property that could accidentally be misconstrued as theft even if (very hypothetically) any final and official version was made using a different process. Does that make sense?

This is incredibly helpful and not harsh at all. In fact, even showing your pen work with the paths helps me a lot, as I didn't create the "S" (or any of the letters) by creating a path that crosses over itself - I made an outline and then made another shape for the internal gaps. You make a really good point about the inner loop and outer loop. Now that you've explained your process and the need to make inner curves at least be generally the same as the outer curves, you can tell that the "S" has an inner shape is disconnected with the outer curve of the letter.

Good luck! I hope they do use it. :)

Thanks! That is really good advice that I honestly did not consider. I literally just used the pen tool and manually traced the edges, which was hard with often indefinite edges. Your method would have been much clearer and resulted in more automatic consistency in stroke width.

I appreciate the suggestion. I did consider that, but I wanted to avoid violating any license requirements (and maybe I wouldn’t have, I’m just not aware enough of how those work and was afraid I would on accident).

Are you putting this on merchandise? Uniforms? Or just for fun? If it's just for personal use, you're good. Get yourself the practice of being able to edit and change things around until you make it your own.

Texans need a red set, Panthers silver numbers on blue are a little hard to read, Titans would look better with light blue as primary (just personal preference tho)

Also thanks for putting more focus on gold in the Saints set, unifying the Cowboys blues and silvers, as well as giving the Ravens black pants some stripes

Panthers alt set is a throwback to their prototype uniform they showcased.

You're probably right about the Titans. I picked navy for their primary when I had different plans for Houston, but plans changed.

For the Jags' I'd use the Fred Taylor era numbers, complete with the outline colors. With one color numbers they still look like practice jerseys.

I think for the Steelers alternate, it needs either black or gold pants. All grey just doesn't fit them.

For the 49ers one day look, I'd add black to the jerseys and pants as well. There's so much on that helmet logo that it needs to carryover to the rest of the uniform.

For the Texans third, it suffers from looking like a Penn State uniform with the Texans logo. I'd probably use that as a way to go crazy, similar to what their new away uniform will be, but probably flipping the horns.

I really like the look of the Jags current numbers.

I considered black on the 49ers. But the issue there is that they did that before, and the throwback style look is what I like (and a lot of the fans like).

The Texas look is a throwback to the uniform they had in Madden 2002.

Not a fan of that Chiefs concept. The colors are all out of balance and it just seems like change for the sake of change. Also not crazy about monochrome black for the Raiders.

On the other hand, I like that Jets concept better than what they just unveiled. I also like your idea for Denver.

Yeah I agree with the Chiefs. I decided I didn't want to rehash an old concept I had done, and this was the best idea I had for them. The alternate jersey is really just me trolling, tbh.

I wanted every team to have some sort of alternate uniform, and that's the most realistic one I could think of for the Raiders that I didn't hate.

  8. I did some NFL concepts. I have a whole list of rules in my head that no one is interested in hearing. We'll start slow, stay tuned for more.

I have mixed feelings about Texas A&M. Yes, they finally got rid of the gray and the bevels, but those shoulder stripes were uniquely A&M. Now they mostly just look like a maroon Texas. I think it's a lateral move IMO, would've chosen something like this if I was the AD.

    [concept]

This concept is garbage and whoever made it sucks.
