I completely agree! Any thoughts on where the old banners go when they're taken down?
The Oilers replaced all their old banners with new ones 5 years ago (don't worry, they didn't change them, they're just made of a material that doesn't break down and lose its colour over time), and they auctioned off all the old ones for charity.
That's too bad the team didn't hold onto them and just placed them in their training facility or something like that. In my opinion, the original banners are just as important as any championship trophy itself.

I hate it when teams redesign past championship banners.

I'm sorry but that image of AI's crossover no longer scares teams.

There are thousands of dudes that have laced it up in the NHL at some point. It's not over until every one of them has been shown!
You do have an excellent point.

I think we're starting to repeat ourselves on here. After 46 pages, I think pretty much everyone has been covered.

Since we're posting Jazz players, might as well throw in Tom Chambers....

Whoa...I'd COMPLETELY forgotten about that one there.
(On another note: am I alone in really having LOVED that particular uniform for the Jazz???)
Why do you like them so much?

How about Danny Manning and John Starks in Jazz uniforms....

So if the L.A. beats Detroit in '04, you would associate Karl Malone with the Lakers more than you would the Jazz?
Heck no! To me, this is one of the weirdest photos to look at in the World of Sports....
Its odd isn't it. I brought up KG earlier as a Celtic. But I think there is a difference. I think Malone winning a championship with LA would have been more akin to Ray Bourque winning a cup with the Avalanche, than KG in Boston. I think that Malone went to LA to win a championship, rather than to lead a team to the championship, which is more akin to what KG did. And KG has immersed himself in the Celtics now. You always had the feeling Malone was just flying in to LA
I totally agree. LA ended up being a hiccup in his career. Although, there's a chance they might have pulled it together if he hadn't been injured in the Finals. All we can really do is speculate, but at least he retired as a Jazzman, whether it was a 1 day contract or not.
