I have to revise my stance that the DH is the stupidest rule in baseball, because it's been supplanted by something even worse: the automatic intentional walk. I'm not sure how, in the incessant quest to Improve the Pace of Play, saving 30 seconds of IBB sounded like a good idea, but giving the pitching team the authority to order the batter to go to 1st base makes no sense at all.  Why does the batter have to do what the opposing team's manager tells him to?  Why doesn't the pitcher have to pitch? It's preposterous!

Can it be happening? Can this season be saved?

Just makes this season more bittersweet if PG and Leonard don't return.  A lot of heart and effort being spent on a lost season.

Something like this was probably the inevitable conclusion of what LeBatard's been building. The LAF network was basically the podcast version of Grantland - a self-contained group of people making content that was too different and too good to stay attached to ESPN, so they had to create their own company. Skipper seems to have been the only ESPN suit who ever believed in what LeBatard was doing, so good for them for reuniting.

That's what Californians get for having their state attempt to protect workers' rights. It's much easier for a company to fire everyone in one fell swoop than to treat them like actual employees.

Deadspin has published two big pieces on why Kobe Bryant should be getting more scrutiny for his Denver rape trial in the light of MeToo and everything else. The first was after he got the Oscar, and the other one last week. There has not been any Cosby moment with newfound outrage about this. Either everyone's accepted that he was innocent, or Bryant really does get a pass for this. Or just nobody cares about Deadspin articles.

Has this become the thread to just post whatever is in the news recently? Last I checked United and ESPN still exist and are doing fine.
