  1. I grew up a Yankee fan during the "Core Four" era and haven't watched a game in 10+ years. I'm at a buddy's house and we're watching the game and I witnessed one of the Yankees players just jog from second to home on a base hit and get thrown out by a mile... didn't even attempt to slide. Genuine question for the baseball fans, not trying to start nonsense but is this how the game is played now due to rules and player safety, or did I just happen to catch a little laziness from a particular player? I didn't catch his name or # but I've never seen anything like that before

  2. spacer.pngNot trying to derail but every time I see that swoosh on the front of an MLB jersey I can't help but shake my head. How one of the oldest American professional sports leagues allowed this utterly baffles me.

At the very least they couldn't make it blue or orange? Nope, had to be white

  3. Just throwing my 2c in as a Tampa local who roots for local teams and left my former fandoms behind:

    1. Getting to St. Pete sucks from where I live, so it doesn't make a difference to me whether it's the regular season or a playoff game. It takes very specific circumstances for me to venture out there. With that being said, I went to a single game this season...specific circumstances were actually exceeded.
    2. All this talk about splitting time between Tampa and Montreal turns me off. I simply can't support that with my "hard-earned cash."
    3. I treat sporting events as a way to socialize these days. I don't follow stats/standings like I used to when I was younger and had more time for random bs. Before the world went to :censored:, I was pretty much attending every weekday Lightning home game with friend/co-workers because the arena is 15 min from where I live and everyone in this group enjoys hockey. It's also easy to support a winning team. This same group doesn't care as much about spending their Sunday afternoons at a stadium and I'm perfectly okay with that so we don't go to Bucs games even when the tix are free.
    4. If the Rays moved to the other side of the Bay, stopped talking all this Montreal nonsense, and kept the public contribution for a new stadium to a minimum, I would 100% become a season ticket holder simply because it would give me another thing to do during weekdays even if they started sucking again.

Cardinals gotta do something. Kyler Murray is pressuring the team by publicly saying they currently look like shyte. You can only hope ownership is listening

I've said it before and I'll say it again. Better players have worn bad or worse uniforms. A player making noise on social media does not justify a uniform change. And for the record, I think the Cardinals' current look is dated and tired.

Here's a fun game for those of us who have been around a decade or more - who were the mods when you joined?

The ones I remember from way back in my day:

    Joel Fiasco

    JP Slapshot

Puckguy (I think he was a mod... not certain)

    Yale Hollander (or just YH)

    Yzerfan (admin)

Spyboy (might have the name wrong... he did like a million Wpg Jets concepts

Honestly I never paid attention to who were the mods back in the day. Didn't even know they were a thing. Just figured Chris was the mod since it was his site and he used to post.

  6. I can only speak for myself but I was close to pulling the trigger on becoming a STM as I found myself genuinely rooting for the Rays the past two seasons and attending more and more games. However after what I've heard the past 24 hours, my support has been officially exhausted. I'll continue spending my money on the Bolts and soon the Vipers instead.

Does anyone besides college kids watch daytime ESPN?  I tried once on a PTO day, and wanted to throw myself out a window once I realized I couldn't find the remote to change it.  It's literally all the same.  Every single show is the same, they just repeat each other.  I can't even tell you the names of the shows or the hosts, because the just seem like the same.

I kinda think that watching sports discussion on TV is ridiculous because people treat it like it's real news, and we treat some of these guys like they're real journalists, when it's literally nothing more than an entertainment show, though I have to say that I do enjoy PTI and the show that comes before it, somewhat (though I want to punch Woody Hayes repeatedly until my fist is actually going through his face and hitting either the wall behind him or the floor if I'm standing over him, and then I'll rip his lips off because they annoy me.)

Brings me back to my college days in between classes, and yes, I wanted to throw myself out a window as well. Fortunately Netflix started taking off and that mindless ESPN afternoon programming was quickly replaced with endless streaming of Scrubs, Seinfeld, and Cheers.

You should definitely not be seeing the Amazon spinning ad; this was not an advertisement that we put on the site, nor should you ever see any popup ads or redirects. Our old ad network was constantly getting hijacked (as you saw with those popups, etc.) so we bailed on them and signed up with these new guys.  If you keep seeing these, screencap it and remember where you were on the site when it happened, then post it to here.

The new ad network does add the floating ad on the bottom of the screen.

That Amazon ad just hijacked my browser on mobile just now, I was in the star wars thread in The Lounge.  Can provide screenshot if needed.
