St. Louis Knights would be good. The King Louis IX statue that the MLB Browns had in their logo was the city's icon before the Gateway Arch. That could be a good secondary logo to go with the chess piece.

Monarchs for King Louis IX would also be good. If St. Louis ends up being the Knights, the Monarchs' branding could go to Charlotte or Cincinnati.

Knights or Monarchs for STL sounds good to me and I think chess piece and crown logos could work together regardless of the name, or the monarchs branding could add a king piece as a secondary logo. I also think a purple and gold scheme would add a unique color palette to the lineup and work for either name.

  2. I like that update for Orlando the most out of the three, almost completely abandoning the red color that their rivals are known for. I do think that a yellow-orange or red-orange secondary color would be nice in the future, tying them closer to the UF alums in the area without going full Gators. All three are upgrades IMO but Memphis is my least favorite. I'm getting more of a Blitz vibe than Bandits now though.

I want to add that I really enjoy the Hou v NOLA rivalry, I always notice when those two play each other even in the regular season. I think Birmingham and Memphis has some legs but they need some playoff matchups to make it more heated IMO. Jersey and Philly is another one but I think that's more of my bias for the Generals in real life. Orlando v Tampa, Denver v LA, and Baltimore v Washington are other matchups I tend to notice the most. I really want Chicago ans Michigan to be a thing but the Machine need to focus on themselves first. Would love a series record of some of your personal favorite rivalries in the league.

Just a quick chime in to say I'm enjoying following along in the sim and the write-ups. Happy to see the Bandits getting back to the winning side of things. Are you using Wolverine's Pro Football sim game? The standings shots look similar to that.

I'm just glad the Generals finally caught a break but I'm not optimistic about the playoffs. I think Tampa will somehow pull it off, although I'd rather it be Memphis in the south.

    Poor Portland.

I could not resist.  Not Bo Jackson, but Herschel, Kelvin, Cribbs, you name it.

    FYI:  In order that is...

    Baltimore-New Jersey-Philadelphia-Pittsburgh-Washington

    Birmingham-Jacksonville-Memphis-Orlando-Tampa Bay

    Chicago-Houston-Michigan-New Orleans-Texas

    Arizona-Denver-LA-Oakland-Portland

I didnt notice it before but Chicago does have a lot of similarity to Michigan, I see why the Panthers were mad about the Machine using those colors (in universe). Maybe a reboot is needed for the blue collar team, they've struggled to succeed in their current look.

  5. 5 isn't honestly the best solution to the problem but I think it would be the best look.

3 with an aquatic blue/teal would be a unique look as long as you don't darken the red to where they start looking like Michigan.

Final answer. Go with 5 but with some moderate use of a tertiary color, like the suggested light blue you mentioned. On second thought cancel the tertiary and keep it classic.

  6. Orlando Galaxy sounds decent. I agree that Memphis and TB are too close in color scheme, add in the fact that Bham also uses a similar shade of red and that entire division could use some change up imo.

The Feds look a little too close to Philly (Eagles) but that might just be my opinion on it, there is so much red in their division too that they don't have much of a choice. I do love what you did with the new logo.

  7. Tampa Bay Storm logos would make great wordmarks for Portland.

KC Command/Brigade (AFL), Wichita Stealth (Af2), & Omaha Nighthawks (UFL) would make a cool brand progression for a team based in that area of the US (not necessarily in the order proposed).

LV Posse (CFL- USA) × Laredo Law (AF2) would be a solid brand evolution, although I'd probably avoid the Posse name.

Hartford Colonials (UFL) & the logo from the Shreveport Pirates (CFL-USA) would make for solid branding for future expansion as well.

Would the "Gold Rush defense" be to on the nose for Denver? That defense gets mentioned every week and deserves a nickname.

  8. I would like to add that he Baltimore Madauders logo from the failed NFL expansion bid would make a great update for the Blitz.

I also like the bit about Jersey having an inferiority complex to Philly, I could see them moving away from their current colors to build on that storyline. Maybe a Forest Green & Silver combo to line up more with a US Amry general but I do like that they have a chip on their shoulder about Philly.

For LA, it would predate the actual MCU and Marvel acquisition of Disney but the Avenegers arena branding and colors would be a way to tie them to the Angels colors with them moving to Anaheim, unless that's temporary. I am aware that the LA Avengers had no ties to Disney but it would have a nice bit of flavor for the irrelevant LA franchise.

  9. I've been following the wixsite almost daily for updates, patiently waiting for NJ to have that breakthrough season but I've found myself pulling for the TX Outlaws after their great start with the legend himself at QB. I also like what you did with the Chicago identity. As far as identities that could fit in, I always like to bring up that Felix Sabates led an expansion bid for a Charlotte USFL Franchise before the league went under. Same man was a part owner of the Charlotte Hornets (WFL) and that brand would have worked in the USFL, depending on if the NBA team exist in this universe.

I agree on the Renegades branding being weak, although I think it would have lasted until around modern times where folks would have realized that Renegades was a slightly tamer version of Savages and not an appropriate nickname. I think two XFL brands would work for the 90s/00s, the LV Outlaws longhorn skull for Texas (spade shape in the nose can go if they remain in Texas) and the LA Xtreme logo as a modernized (extreme) Express logo.

For arena, the Vegas Galdiators were always a personal favorite. Gladiators is not a name you see used too often but it would make a cool pro sports brand.
