Oh, the Marlins won two World Series, did they?  That's cute.

The A's have won nine World Series!  Even if you consider only the Series that they won in Oakland (which, in the name of Connie Mack's straw hat, you definitely should not do), that would make four — as in double the amount won by the Marlins.  Do not even dare to compare the venerable A's, who are in the company of the Yankees and the Cardinals, with a cheesy expansion team that didn't play its first game until the A's were nearly a century old.

    Okay buddy.. please calm down.

I mean as if we look at todays MLB and not all-time. The Mariners last championship was in 2003 where the A's haven't won any since 1989. The Mariners management isn't a complete dumpster fire compared to the A's are right now. I rather see the A's fold or at least go dormant for now then be relocated to Las Vegas.

Look at his career and his very brief solitary playoff appearance (in the second wild card era). He has played in nearly zero Games That Mattered. Baseball's history would be unchanged if he didn't exist.

He should've demanded a trade out of Anaheim or left in free agency, but he didn't have the guts to accept less money to escape the horrible situation that is Arte Moreno's Angels.

Doubt he even want to leave. He probably happy being in Anaheim compared to Oakland.

Because I don't believe in the long-term health of the league. Too many stadiums are mostly empty. There aren't great baseball markets out there waiting for new stadium construction. I don't believe that RSNs are a long-term sustainable solution to funding franchises, and while I'm ignorant on MLB's national TV distribution deals, I can't imagine they come close to footballs.

MLB just cannibalized its farm system. The league doesn't advertise a guy (Mike Trout) who might be a top ten all-time player. The playoffs are unnecessarily restricted. The Braves should have been disqualified from the playoffs for crimes against fiscal sense and civic spirit.

Now I'm just complaining about baseball, but the spirit of the argument is the whole thing seems poorly managed (it's in a lockout right now!) and I feel like the owners are sacrificing the future to keep windfalls of today going as long as they can.

I have similar frustrations with the United States of America, and think contraction is a good idea there too.

Thank you! I honestly agree that the long-term health would be better then just short-term gains for the league.

But, being honest about this, I rather watch the NPB or KBO over MLB. The MLB failed me as a fan with the lockdown happening again.

The only '90s expansion teams that should've happened were Denver and DC, with the Expos and Angels folding in the early-'00s. The A's would then move to Anaheim.

    1. Honestly the Colorado Rockies should have been called the Denver Bears instead IMO.

    2. DC should have gotten an expansion team: Washington Greys instead of the Nationals (generic for generic sake) and the Senators.

    3. Hell to the no with the Anaheim Angels folding and the A's relocating to Anaheim. bad call, very bad call...

    4. Expos should have folded when the team proposal for a new stadium being rejected. I would accept relocation to Vancouver or Portland though...

Getting rid of the Rays and A's sounds like something that should've been done about 20 years ago.

Rays and Marlins would also work, to get rid of the flop that was Florida expansion. Marlins Park can become Inter Miami's new stadium! ;)

I would get rid of the Rays and A's instead of the Marlins. At least the Marlins won two World Series two out of the three playoff appearance's. The A's have nothing to live for and relocating the team to Las Vegas would actually be a death sentence for the team. LV already has the Golden Knights and the Raiders, adding another Oakland team in A's would be an mistake. I rather see the team fold then going to Vegas.

While I'm not a fan of getting rid of teams just for reasons, it does help out in the end like with MLS.  Plus MLS did return to Florida with Orlando City SC and now with Inter Miami.

Third expansion club up.  Here is the design for the Seattle Dragons.  Heavily influenced by the WLAF and NFLE Dragons, though with some elements not borrowed from the originals.   I personally love this color combo, using just a hint of black to offset the red, yellow, and green.  It also feels very "Seattle" to me.  Not in the highlighter green version of the Seahawks, but more aligned with the last few years of the Supersonics.    Remember that this is the first design, and just like the Jags and Panthers in the NFL, the 90's and 2000's and 2010's will lead to an evolution (though hopefully not some of the major downgrades we have seen in Jacksonville.)

Seattle looks fantastic and while I'm not a huge fan of the color scheme, I love the dragon design so much.

Might as well have pro kickball at this point.

Not joking but I'm kinda surprised we don't have a kickball world championship or something like it yet?

Also, what is pickleball? I honestly never heard of it.

Did you miss the whole reveal of the name here...?

Dude I been on and off here for over a year or so. But I usually keep my opinions to myself, which is something I like to stop doing as I had people complain to me about stuff and when I tell them my though they get annoyed and walk off. (To be fair, I rarely comment on stuff here since I like seeing and reading other people thoughts on stuff. Basically I'm the Silent Bob of the forums).

To be fair, I honestly find the name, and mostly the logo, as lame. But maybe it because I loved the Golden Knights logo and name so much I was expecting something more with Seattle. That's what I get for having my hopes up...

The Kraken really got crackin' in joining the NHL.

They just got sued by a Seattle establishment called the Kraken Bar & Lounge because the team was going to name the restaurant at their practice facility the "Kraken Bar & Grill", and now according to a tweet, have decided to name the restaurant a different thing because of the lawsuit.

So I may be the odd one out (Maybe not idk?) but I really find the the Seattle Kraken to be a lame NHL name. It fine for something like the NLL or even Arena Football, but for the NHL, I was expecting something better. When I was a kid, I remember created a fictional hockey team from Seattle the Emerald Dragons. Maybe they had something else planned for the team name but the Kraken feels like a dud.

Am I the only one thinking of old pinball tables with the name 'Bally'?

There also Bally Astrocade console from the late 70's.

I will miss Fox Sports tbh. But I like to see what Bally will do now.

    Frontier League introduces Ottawa Titans

    December 3, 2020 - 19:53 PM

Baseball’s independent Frontier League will add a 15th team in 2021, the Ottawa Titans, whose logo features a giant baseball player meant to signify the history, strength, and pride in Canada’s capital. Per the team, the “Titans emblem will feature a red super slugger wielding his bat over his shoulder,

Woah.. I like the name but really hate the logo. That logo looks bad. I was expecting something a bit similar to the NPB Giants Logo from the 2000s (the one with the baseball player) but with colors that match the city other team (Ottawa RedBlacks). Wasn't expecting a rejected cartoon characters from the 1990s..

Between Grigby and Gridby, which one would be easier to say?

It's supposed to be a portmanteau of gridiron and rugby, which could be a new name for my fictional Driveball game.

Gridby sounds better. But that's my opinion.

I have Xfinity so I get Peacock Premium for free. The quality of the streaming isn't nearly as good as the quality of watching it on cable. I don't stream a lot of sports so I can't speak for the normal quality of it all but I'm not a fan.

I think it depends on where you live and the service you get. But Peacock Premium (which I pay for..) looks pretty bad compared to CBS All Access and ESPN+. Both look way better then Peacock.

Between this and Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox (and subsequent rebrand to 20th Century Studios), who had the Fox name being completely wiped out from virtually all media? Not me.

I honestly hate the merge so I wont get into it, But I never heard of Bally so this might be fun to see how it could work. Also, 20th Century Studios... I hate Disney sometimes..

I'd say this, FCS is the endgame for revived WAC football.  Not FBS.

Honestly, I think the endgame might not be worth it in the end for WAC. Sure it could work but I see ways how it could and can backfire.

If the WAC Football can survive at least five or ten years without some really major hiccups. I will be shocked. Also, even if they make it that long, I doubt the Power 5 Conferences would allow another member to join them. So it pretty much FCS or BUST.

I find it hard to believe that Abilene Christian, Lamar, Sam Houston State and Stephen F. Austin would consider a move to the WAC.  I am always of the opinion if one of those 4 Texas schools leave the Southland it would be for a move up to the FBS via CUSA or Sun Belt.

Honestly doubt SFA would move for just football. Basketball maybe but the football program isn't that great. I still remember their beating by TCU years ago.

As for the WAC getting back in football, I'm confused why? I actually forgot why they left the football program stuff years ago? Can someone remind me on that. I'm up for more football conferences but it seems weird.

Following up on my previous comment, with the news that the SEC is pushing for a change of the Mississippi state flag, I wouldn't be shocked if Ole Miss gets rid of the Rebels nickname, either voluntarily or unvoluntarily.

Rebels is a tricky one for me. For me, Rebels can mean something from Star Wars then Confederate soldiers. I like that the SEC trying to get help get rid of Mississippi state flag, I just think the team might need a makeover to remove the confederate pass in the school. (Personal Opinion (here comes the flack): I lie the Rebels nickname but wouldn't mind seeing an updated term with it.)

Also adding to this is the Texas Rangers name. https://dfw.cbslocal.com/2020/06/19/columnist-texas-rangers-baseball-name-change-law-enforcement-agency-racist-history-embarrassment-fans/

As someone who used to like the Texas Rangers (Thanks Walker, Texas Ranger...). I honestly can see why the team needs a new name. Personally I think Dallas Raiders or Texas something or other. Personally. It just the times are changing. If it getting better, we have to wait and see.

  17. Few things I want to add.

1: I miss ABC Sports and Keith Jackson commentating games for the network. Also his commentary in NCAA Gamebreaker is something I do enjoy now as an adult.

2: Speaking on Gamebreaker. I miss 989 Sports and Acclaim Sports. While I have a bad history of NFL Gameday 2002 (Bad controls and being a bit glitchy being two of the reasons). I used to love the NHL Face-Off series with NHL Face-Off 97 a personal favorite growing up. As for Acclaim, while I never played a lot of Quarterback Club, I did enjoy 2002 recently and wished they improved with another game. Still to be honest, SEGA Sports and EA were better growing up. Also miss SEGA Sports to be honest.
