I really don’t know why the current logo gets so much hate. I like it far more than the old logo. It looks fiercer, contains all the colors, has more depth being 3D

It would be fine if they got rid of the orange and straightened the triangle across the top. Maybe bolder outlines to match the new shoulder logos

I mean the Phillies still have white, grey, cream, powder blue and red. I think teams get exceptions for anything that is considered a non-regular rotation uniform (like a throwback, or in the case of the Blue Jays, the Canada Day uniform), but that doesn't add up for Philadelphia because they wear the powder blue every Thursday home game.

Annoying b/c Atlanta had to drop their cream jersey AND the City Connect was apparently b/c they were informed by MLB about this new four shirt rule, so they wanted to use the CC uniform as an opportunity to preserve a permanent chance at showcasing the overall look of the Hank Aaron-era uniforms.

Yet Philly is trotting out five total uniforms regularly.

The Phillies don’t have a City Connect uniform yet, which is why they’re allowed 5 right now. Once they get theirs next year, they’ll apparently need to drop one of the existing 5

  3. Ad patch aside, the front of the uniforms look really slick, simplified, and bold. Return to the darker orange is complete home run. The back is where I cringe. The different colored nameplates don’t work with the wider shoulders and just clutter up the overall look. Sleeve numbers have grown on me since yesterday, especially the solid black on the home jersey

  4. Notice the blue hat in Turner’s locker behind him. Seems as if the cream jerseys will remain in the rotation. Also the team is selling 2023 on-field collection featuring the maroon throwback alternates. So maybe the Phils are keeping all 5 uniforms somehow

It might be a hot take and bias as a flyers fan but I like the nameplates, especially with how thin the yolk is on the rear shoulders I think it adds a nice balance. I also feel like it's a unique look owned by the flyers.

The white nameplates on the current orange jersey look good and make sense because of the historical connection. Different colored nameplates should not exist on any other Flyers jersey. Not the whites, not the blacks, not the Stadium Series, not the Winter Classics. And definitely not the new ones

  6. The Flyers update, if true, is pointless. Either come up with an evolved version of the uniform, or go back to the popular 90’s set. Keeping the different colored nameplates is awful. This sounds like a weird 70’s/90’s hybrid, with the only positive sounding like a return to a darker orange (I believe Chris has his oranges mixed up in the article).

Y'know, I was skeptical of the program at first, but I'm actually going to miss this Reverse Retro stuff when it's done (assuming this is the last round of it).

It's been fun to see the fan designs and guess how teams would look back on the history with a twist, and since all the clubs take part, fans everywhere - no matter your team - can get excited. Sure, it's a money grab, but unlike the ads on the boards and jerseys, this one is actually, legitimately, just fun.

Not to pick on you directly here, but it always makes me chuckle when people accuse businesses of a cash grab. It’s a business, the whole point is to make money

  8. My apologies for the crappy quality, did this really quick in paint and then had to take a cell phone pic because I did it on a work computer and couldn’t send to myself. But it gets the point across. Also apologies if a concept like this exists already, but if they tweaked the logo to look like this it would have fit well Sharks concept primary logo

edit: It doesn’t come across well on the cell phone pic, but the stick is supposed to be the same color as the stick from the inaugural logo

  9. Said it already but it bears repeating: going through this whole process of coming up with a nice rebrand, only to ignore the primary logo is so disappointing. Everything else looks great though. Gloves could use a little black, maybe on the branding. Other than that, very nice. Also like the black numbers on the white uniforms. Provides nice color balance with the teal heavy pants/gloves

The current logo is a modernized version of the original logo, no?

The orange hangar effect is fine, and it won’t be seen when worn.

The official announcement has to imminent with all these retail leaks.

I meant more along the lines of what the Blue Jays did. When they made their first change to the Clemens era set, they kind of did what the Sharks did by bringing in a 2000’s-ish update to the logo. Then they eventually switched back to what they have now, which is a classier version that looks less 2000 and more of just a straight up throwback with some minor tweaks/clean up. Think that’s the direction the Sharks should have taken here. They kind of did that with the shoulder patch

  11. These jerseys are so close to a home run. Love the striping pattern, love the updated shoulder patch. But why for the love of God did they get lazy where it matters most, and slap that ugly, leftover logo on the front?!? Would have been a PERFECT opportunity to modernize the original logo, like they did with the shoulder patch, and really complete the new look. Not to mention for some dumb reason keeping that jarring orange color on the hanger effect. Could have been 10/10, same logo/hanger effect drop it to a 7 at best.
