  1. I'm 47 (huge Hockey and Baseball fan) and I miss
    - Going to a Game for the sole purpose of watching the Game (No checking on Fantasy Geek Nerd crap, No being on a phone or tablet period. No FanCam or KissCam. No hanging out at the concourse bar only paying attention to thee Game when the crowd ohhs or ahhhs due to a play on the Field or Ice or Court)
    - Professional Sports before Free Agency
    - Professional Sports before the over the top look at me show boating celebrations and hijinks (Terrell Owens running to the Cowboys mid field logo after a 49ers TD, Antonio Brown arriving at Steelers Training Camp in a Helicopter are just a couple of the many examples)
    - People / Fans before we became a Sue Happy Society (if your sitting directly behind home plate and your dumb ass gets up and turns your back on the Play (During the Inning) and you get hit with a foul ball that hits the netting, That's on You, not MLB or the Team)

    - NHL Home Team wearing White
    - NHL Wales and Campbell Conferences with Patrick, Adams, Norris and Smythe Division names
    - NHL Stanley Cup Final ending in May
    - Not a popular opinion but I miss Tie games

    - MLB before Interleague play (my 4yrs in the Navy (Norfolk Va) I became an Orioles fan, so while I do like the fact that the Orioles come to PNC Park and the Pirates go to Camden Yards but still to me the 2 Leagues NOT playing until the World Series made it special imo)
    - MLB Double Headers
    - Just the Basics at MLB Parks (Burgers, Dogs, Peanuts, etc)

I am definitely the opposite of this, because I hate the shootout and I hate the 3-on-3 OT.

I'm on board with this sentiment as well. My thinking is, if you can't have Ties games, then why the need for LOSER Points? Back in the day, giving each Team a point for finishing the Game Tied made sense, because the Game didn't need a winner / loser. The League now mandates that games have a Winner and Loser.

A win is counted as a Win no matter when you Win said game (Regulation, OT, Shoot out)
    SO
Why is a loss not counted as a Loss no matter when you Lose said game (Regulation, OT, Shoot out)

W - L - OTL, why no category for OTW then? What's that, a win is counted as a Win but a Loss is not counted as a Loss...WTF??

3 Points for a Regulation Win / 0 points for Loss
2 Points for a OT Win / 0 points for Loss
1 Point for a Shoot Out Win / 0 points for Loss

I don't hate the 3 on 3 OT but I don't like it either. I tolerate the 3 on 3 better than I do the kindergarten schoolyard shoot out crap

Part of the reason I suspect I don't really get passionate about colors at home in the NHL is that the Blackhawks crowd has never really taken to wearing one color to playoff games the way other teams have. McDonough (godspeed little doodle) didn't really do the shirts-on-the-seats stunt for whatever reason, so people just wore what they wore and it was fine enough. The United Center never lights the stands that well anyway so who cares, watch the game on the ice.

Until the '08 Series vs the Wings (when white shirts were handed out at the gate), Pens fans generally wore whatever to a game. '92 / '93 season saw a lot of Suits in the lower bowl (to go along with the Higher Ticket Prices, Corporations also bought up lower bowl tickets, my grandfather (C18, lower bowl) was basically priced out of the Arena). Going to the Games as a kid, tween, teen and seeing all the different Colored uniforms come INTO the Arena, was Awesome. Now it's everyones White uniform as the Pens wear Black (find it boring)

Except it’s not straight one color vs another. It would be

    Penguins vs. Flyers

Black and gold and white vs. white and orange and black

Each jersey has lots of designs. Besides the color at home brings a lot of classic designs back to the home fans. The Habs, Rangers, even the Blackhawks all have superior dark jerseys. The Habs especially have a classic design that should be worn at home.

Home teams should be wearing the color that most people are gonna be decked out in. And that’s not gonna be white... The only exception there is the Jets with their white out. (Or I guess the Coyotes white outs, but that’s not as comparable.) The Jets should wear white at home during the playoffs...

Pens tried a Black out before the '16 Playoffs during practice, was reported that the Goalies would have a Hard Time picking up the puck, Which is why they chose Gold Shirts to hand out to the fans, it was called the GOLDRUSH.

Just like Centerfield )beyond the Fences) at Baseball Parks cannot be white because the Batters have a hard time picking up the ball coming out of a Pitchers hand

Pens DOMINATE color in the Home uniform is BLACK (Gold and White are mere accent colors)
Flyers DOMINATE color in the Home uniform is ORANGE (White and Black are mere accent colors)

DOMINATE Home WHITE (Pens) vs the DOMINATE ORANGE Road (Flyers)

    http:/http://www.nhluniforms.com/Flyers/Flyers09.html

HOME Fans are going to Cheer for you, Be your STRENGTH when you need it, When you're on the Road in a Hostile Environment, (like say Philly) don't you want  to wear your Colors to be a Show of STRENGTH

There is no right or wrong answer, I just prefer Home Whites

When my Wife and I get dolled up (LOL very rare occasion) to go out somewhere, she wears a Evergreen colored dress I wear White shirt, gray pants and a tri-colored striped dark green / gray / white tie (DOMINATE color I have on is white / gray, that dark green in the tie is just there as an accent color to match her dress)

counterpoint: white at home sucks and the NHL was right to switch away from it.

I HATE the fact that the NHL went with Dark at Home. Home games are so BLAND now. Was awesome going to Pens games at the Civic Arena and seeing Opposing Teams Colors come into the Building

Pens HOME White vs Flyers AWAY ORANGE
Pens HOME White vs Rangers AWAY BLUE
Pens HOME White vs Kings AWAY PURPLE
Pens HOME White vs Hawks AWAY RED
Pens HOME White vs Bruins AWAY BLACK
Pens HOME White vs Sharks AWAY TEAL
Pens HOME White vs North Stars AWAY GREEN

now it's Pens HOME Black vs Whoever AWAY White, am I watching a Hockey Game or a Chess Match?  Ok so the Pens colors are Black, it can be said for ANY Home game of Any Team

Toronto HOME BLUE vs Whoever AWAY WHITE
Chicago HOME RED vs Whoever AWAY WHITE
NYR HOME BLUE vs Whoever AWAY WHITE
LA HOME BLACK vs Whoever AWAY WHITE
Minnesota HOME GREEN vs Whoever AWAY WHITE
Nashville HOME YELLOW vs Whoever AWAY WHITE
San Jose HOME TEAL vs Whoever AWAY WHITE

So damn boring in my opinion!
I would LOVE to see Calgary come back to Pittsburgh wearing those Awesome 80s RED Retros, Capitals come to Pittsburgh wearing those Awesome 80s RED Retros

Thanks for sharing. Is that the previous shade of orange as well?

The Oilers announced in March 2017 they'd be wearing the orange alternates in that year's playoffs and would be switching to an orange home jersey when adidas took over in the fall. There was a huge push from the organization to get fans to wear orange to the games.

I think most people still view the Oilers as a primarily blue team, and the colour change has been a bust. The 2015-17 uniforms were near perfect.

I honestly don't understand why Edmonton would bring back the Royal Blue only to get rid of it again and go Navy again. The Royal Blue / Orange '15-'17 uniforms POPPED on my HDTV screen, the Orange / Navy does not, at times the Navy comes off looking Black (US Navy dress blues and Police Officers uniforms come to mind when Navy Blue comes off looking Black)

I never understood Mario Lemieux's thinking when he stated that he wanted Crosby and Malkin to have their own Penguin identity (Black / Vegas Gold), as opposed to the Pens traditional Black / Yellow Pittsburgh Gold that he wore when he played. Lemieux idolized Jean Beliveau / Canadiens when he was a kid, YET the 2020 Canadiens still wear the same logo, uniform style and color scheme as Beliveau did in the '50s - '70s.  THANK GOD Lemieux / Pens listened to the Fans and brought back the '88-'92 uniform style with Black / Yellow Pittsburgh Gold

Super Bowl 31 is the best looking Super Bowl for me.

Funny thing about that Super Bowl
    - My best friend was born / raised in Greenfield WI before moving to Greenfield (Pittsburgh neighborhood)(his dad took a job as a Pgh Police Officer, my Dad was already a Pgh Police Officer) in 1990. So Packers football was his Families life blood LOL
    - (Pittsburgh) Greenfield home of former Boston Red Sox Owner Larry Lucchino, former Packers Head Coach Mike McCarthy and former STL Rams QB Mark "Mookie" Bulger.
    - I graduated from Pittsburgh Public High school (Taylor Allderdice c/o '91) with Curtis Martin (didn't know him personally, other than to say Hi or Have a Good game in the Hallways) so I was disappointed the Pats didn't win that Super Bowl HOWEWVER always said Curt looked better in the Green / White of the JETS (Allderdice's colors are Green / White)

Everyone wants to think that their team has at least an outside shot of winning a championship when the season starts. There's always a few surprise teams, and even fans in Pittsburgh have to have some hope (at least on opening day) that this can be their year. Having an A and B league effectively eliminates half of the league before the season even starts, making it unlikely that people are going to turn out, even in the beginning. Why would I want to go to games for what is effectively a minor league team?

To piggy back off of what you said. You'd also have to have Owners that are willing to Spend money in order to Get Better and Compete (to move up into the "A" League). bob nutting cares not for spending money to improve his team, so what's to say he'd give 2 :censored:s IF the Pirates never competed in the "A" League

  9. Pittsburgh Pirates Hockey Club (1925 - 1930) were the First NHL team to:
    - Pirates coach Odie Cleghorn, introduce the idea of Changing players on the fly
    - set an NHL record for largest salary paid to a player, Lionel Conacher signed a 3yr / $7,500 contract (we're talking 1920s here)
    - Pirates coach Odie Cleghorn, used 3 sets of forwards (NHL standard back then was to leave best players on the ice the whole game)
    - First Pittsburgh based team to wear the colors Black and Yellow Gold (Pirates/  MLB wore Red / White / Blue uniforms)(Steelers / NFL weren't born until 1933)
    - 4 Pirates Players are in the Hockey Hall of Fame
    - when the Pittsburgh Penguins changed uniform colors from Blue / White to Black / Gold mid season (Jan 1980), the Boston Bruins protested the color change, the NHL cited the Pirates Hockey Club had worn Black / Gold while the Bruins had worn Brown / Gold (during the same time frame) thus the NHL allowed the Pens to change color schemes

City of Pittsburgh and the game of Hockey have a long history dating back 1895 (this is why it cracks me up when opposing fans say Pittsburgh isn't a Hockey City, sure Pittsburgh is a Football first City but only because Hockey isn't as popular across the US)
    - First United States City to Professionalize the game of Ice Hockey (1890s)
    - WPHL (Western Pennsylvania Hockey League) ran from 1896 - 1908
      - played games at Schenley Park Casino
      - also played games at Duquesne Gardens
      - first League to openly Hire players (ie Paid their players to play)
    - 6 Players from the WPHL are in the Hockey hall of Fame

I can't imagine this isn't already a thread, but I figured I may as well get this started up. This is a place you can post little things in sports uniforms that rub you the wrong way. Not major design choices, not new logos, just little things only the real jersey nuts care about.

    I'll start.

    Image result for islanders 2019

Ever since the Adidas takeover, the Isles' helmet numbers haven't had the outline their jersey numbers have, and it bugs me every time I see it.

Do you guys have anything like this or am I crazy?

Speaking of the Adidas Jerseys. What IRKS the hell out of me are the Teams that have Ties.  On a V Neck Jersey the Ties look aesthetically pleasing to the Eyes but Ties on a Round Collar just looks stupid and serve no purpose
