Because the warning flag jersey got designated as the home jersey last year, this is the first time since 2009 that the Hurricanes are wearing their primary home jerseys in the playoffs

And they've still never worn their red jerseys that they introduced in 2017 in the playoffs.

This almost begs the question: If the Jets make the Super Bowl  with this new(old) logo, what would their end zone look like? Two of these in it?

Rumor has it that the Coyotes' move to Salt Lake City next year is confirmed. If this happens, then we're practically guaranteed new uniforms and quite possibly a new identity altogether, as the Kachina look would make no sense in the Beehive State. But, SLC does have a history adopting regionally incompatible team names...(looks at Jazz)

    Don't forget Real Salt Lake.

The Canucks also aren't really a team that wears alternates in the playoffs like Carolina or Minnesota; I think the only time they did it was 2007.

I think people are just getting themselves way too hyped for a Skate revival that almost certainly will not be happening. Too much equity in their current branding to toss it away now.

And remember in 2007, the Canucks started the playoffs with their regular navy blue orca jerseys for their first three games at home (including the legendary Game 1 in 4OT), and then switched to their retro stick-in-rink royal blue jerseys for the rest of the playoffs starting with Game 7 against Dallas. So they, and the Sabres that year, broke that rule. Were they ever disciplined in some way for it?

I wonder what the odds are that they eventually move to some version of these as their full time set? I'm not saying they should, but this is how it starts many times.

Possible unpopular opinion: I hope they DO NOT MAKE THESE THEIR FULL-TIME UNIFORMS. The current color scheme and logo, which the Minnesota Wild have used since Day 1 of the franchise (October 6, 2000), beautifully fits the description of forests and wilderness. I like the newly-minted alternate uniforms and they're a nice and colorfully vibrant homage to the North Stars, but they belong in the regular season and up to 15 times a year. This is the Minnesota WILD, not North Stars, and as such, the abstract bear head/forest scenery logo should never be altered or changed on a full-time basis.

That Sabres jersey was so bad that they were forced to bring back the original jersey as an alternate (with front numbers for some reason):

And they were even allowed to wear them in the 2007 playoffs for a select few (but not all) home games. Does anyone know why that is? The Canucks did the same thing that year.

I've always wondered why that was too. I was surprised when Buffalo and Vancouver switched to their alternates when the rules clearly say only one set of home/away uniforms can be used for the playoffs.

If you ask me, this jersey is what the Senators' brand should be based on. Albeit with a different logo.

I totally agree. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED this jersey and wasn't happy they never wore it in the playoff before retiring it.

So they stupidly chose to wear those hideous black alts in the playoffs last year instead of their modernized 2017 red jerseys, and then to make matters worse they dropped their best looking jersey since their original set all together and made the ugly alt the new home jersey. Then when they make the playoffs in the first season with these black jerseys as their new homes they use the retros for the playoffs?

So, at this point it is pretty much inevitable that they just end up going back to their cup era look, but will they keep the black jersey and make it their alt again? If so, will they go back to wearing the black alt during the playoffs again just to keep messing with us?

    IDENTITY CRISIS 🤣

  9. I'm not a new user.  I've been a user on this board for 19 years, but my old account was locked so I had to make a new one. You know how annoying that is.

Anyway, have any teams announced if they will wear their alternate jerseys in the postseason? Unless I missed it, I haven't seen anything.

Minnesota is wearing those again tonight against Chicago, which is going to look amazing. Needs to be a full time alternate at the least.

I agree this jersey should be a full time alternate, but keep it at that. DO NOT make it the basis for full time regular uniforms. IMO, the Wild logo and colors that have been around since 2000 must stay.

Probably due to generational difference; a lot of people remember 2004 much more than 1989 because they weren't born then, therefore they have a stronger attachment to that look than something they weren't even alive to witness.

That, and 2004 is like...the only time the Flames have been that successful since 1989 lol

Probably throw in the fact that their success in 2004 was out of nowhere and their run to the Stanley Cup Finals was a total surprise, especially with it being their first playoff appearance in eight years.

Canes are bringing back their original look as an alternate.   They really should just wear these full time….

I wonder how long it will be before the Hurricanes fanbase demands they go back to these full-time and change their road whites accordingly.
