Seeing players get sent off is normal.
Even seeing coaches get sent off is normal.

Bundesliga match between VfL Bochum and Borussia Monchengladbach abandoned around the 71st minute after the assistant referee is hit in the head with a beer thrown by a Bochum supporter. Gladbach has gone up 2-0 just before this happened.
It's the first abandoned Bundesliga game in 11 years. Stupid, idiotic fan.

Russian men out of World Cup qualifying, and Russian women kicked out of European Championships today. UEFA hasn't said how they'll go about replacing Russia, who beat Portugal 1-0 over two legs in the playoffs the women's Euros this summer. Any club teams that were still in Europe also kicked out. Spartak Moscow was the last one left, now RB Leipzig get a bye into the quarterfinals rather than playing Spartak's last opponent.
In my mind, the fairest way to replace Russia in World Cup qualifying is either Slovakia (the team that Russia beat out for third) or Hungary (the next best Nations League group winner).
For the women, maybe a one-off between Portugal and the Czechs?

So are the Stars hiring their former coach?
And if so, can he lead them to the PLAYOFFS?!

The nickname itself isn't bad, but that logo is horrible. It looks like someone made it in MS Paint in 20 minutes.
I'm just picturing an anthropomorphized lighthouse named Mavis running around the gym.

I am downright frightened about what abuse is already being thrown at the three English players who missed their penalties.

As much as I can appreciate the excitement it caused...
I hate the UEFA version of the away goals rule where it's checked again after extra time.

Could you imagine if Dodgers fans were to protest like that about Frank McCourt back in the day?

Holy crap, Ajax beating their opponent 13-0 this weekend.

The Bundesliga season started today.

I don't know what's the bigger story - OM beating PSG 1-0 today or the fact that the game ended 9v8.
-
PSG is down seven of their players on account of the Coronavirus and they get to play OM tomorrow. I wouldn't be surprised if they end the weekend in COVID-19th.

I'm in my early 40s. In my lifetime, the Phila teams have only had (focusing only on TV):
Eagles: 1 PBP guy (Merrill Reese) and for the past 22 years, only 1 color guy (Mike Quick.)
Phillies: 2 PBP guys (Harry Kalas, Tom McCarthy)
Sixers: 1 PBP guy (Mark Zumoff) for the past 22 years (I can't figure out who was before him)
Flyers: 3 BPB guys (HOF Gene Hart, Doc Emerick (fired to bring back Hart), Jim "the referees are out to get us" Jackson for the past 26 years.
That's remarkable continuity - especially Merrill Reese. Even the Flyers color guys and studio team haven't rotated too much, mostly being Al Morganti, Bill Clement, Keith Jones, Gary "pass me a beer" Dornhoeffer, and probably someone else I'm forgetting.
Steve Coates.

Touché. (For some reason, I'd always thought that Bellarmine and Sacred Heart were Jesuit schools)
Burmy, I think what you meant to say, and which I think is true, is that it's just the second diocesan post-secondary school in NCAA Division I.

That was my thinking too. My name’s dumb but eh, it’s been almost a decade.Fun fact: I resurrected the NJTank moniker, which lasted about 8 minutes since apparently that’s not allowed. It’s a shame, I was really hoping to have a Cleveland Browns situation where I could pad my post count and join date.

Andy Reid is just the fourth head coach to win both the George Halas Trophy and the Lamar Hunt Trophy in his career.
(The others are Bill Parcells, Dan Reeves, and John Fox.)

The 1981 Reds had the best record in baseball and failed to make the playoffs, thanks to the split season playoff format.

Really, if the Big East has to resort to this, remind me why they deserve to keep their BCS bid?
-
You know, maybe Boise State's actually better served staying put in a non-BCS conference now that TCU is in a BCS conference. Now, there's no real other school that could poach BSU's non-AQ bid!
