NASCAR

Of course it is a sport. A driver has too be in top shape to endure the physical aspects of a 3 1/2 hour race. An out of shape driver will tire and make a mistake, totally destroying a goos car.

Living in the heart of NASCAR country, i can tell you all these teams have trainers. They put many hours into building the team up physically. Any man who works on a pit crew is an athlete in every sense of the word. Liken it to baseball, the pitcher is the driver and the pit crew are your fielders.

If a bowler is an athlete, than a driver is.

If a golfer is an athlete, than a driver is.

If a kicker is an athelete, than a driver is.

If a goalie is an athlete, than a driver is.

If a DH is an athlete, than a driver is.

All those player make a living off of eye-hand coordination and technique. They don't rely on running or skating the whole game. Goalies and kickers have special rules inplace to protect them from the typical batterings that others on the same field must endure.

I suppose anything that Vegas puts regular odds and spreads on is a sport.

Race horses and jockeys are athletes also.

"It is the soldier, not the reporter, who has given us freedom of the

press. It is the soldier, not the poet, who has given us freedom of

speech. It is the soldier, not the campus organizer, who has given us

the freedom to demonstrate. And it is the soldier who salutes the

flag, serves beneath the flag, whose coffin is draped by the flag, and

who allows the protester to burn the flag."
