Carolina Panther's Uniform

I've come across a photo of the early design of the Carolina Panthers uniform.

We where discussing it on a Panther's message board and couldn't figure out why the NFL made the Panthers change it.

At first I thought it was because of the light blue for a home jersey which would be neutral. But at that time the Oilers where wearing an even lighter shade of blue...

If you have any thoughts or theories on to why the NFL made the Panthers change it would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

whatup Holmes!

no this is not an "official" uniform. that image is from the Observer on what they presented as the new uniforms back in '94. when thay actually took the field it was white jerseys (1st half home), white pants. then during 2nd half (home) was black jersey, silver pants. the blue jerseys were 1st played in 2002. the carolina "electric" blue has shifted over the years from a more teal based to a truer cyan based blue. the reason for the blue change was color appearance on TV and the early colors faded out after multiple washed. it's never been "tarheel" powder blue like other folks have mentioned. our jersey numbers have never been silver.

*edit: forgot to mention there were silver "fashion jerseys" sold in 2002 as well. ugh!
