Will Chivas have players of all nationalities? I kinda thought they were only going to have players of mexican decent. Maybe I'm way off. I heard they got some minor heat for not hiring a mexican coach.

Maybe I'm completly wrong.

Well, Kansas City has left Meola unprotected because of the fact that neither of the expansion teams is very likely to select him. After all, he has a salary at or near the league maximum, he's an older player, his injury status is questionable and there are 11 other goalkeepers available in the expansion draft... most without the question marks surrounding Meola. The team figures that they're far more likely to have someone else selected ahead of Meola, which will then allow them to pull the 'keeper back.

As for Preki, the Wizards have to be concerned about his age and injury situation at this point in his career. In fact, there are whispers that the player may be contemplating retirement.

Toni Nhleko is a guy that FC Dallas feels has yet to turn in a week-in-week-out, consistent performance. Part of that has had to do with the club's relianace on Jason Kreis as their offensive leader. Yesterday's trade of Kreis to ReAL Salt Lake in exchange for future considerations may signal that FC Dallas will hope that someone else is chosen ahead of Nhleko, thus allowing the team to pull the South African international back.

Chicago feels that they have an abundance of riches at goalkeeper - which they do. So much so, that it is likely that one of the two 'keepers they've left unprotected will be the first player selected from their unprotected list. At that point, they'll pull the other guy back.
