Managed Baseball League

Think you could manage a big league team? A new managed baseball league will be starting in June. As owner and manager, you'll be responsible for every coaching decision made in these games.

IMPORTANT: This is not a fantasy league! While teams will draft a 25-man roster, the stats produced in regular Major League play do not have any bearing on the results - this is a simulation league. (Injuries in an MLB game would not result in that player being injured for our league.) It will be simulated using the Dynasty League board game, mostly by the official rules, with the 2004 edition rosters (they don't make 2005 until the end of the season.)

Owners will need to devote 2 hours a week for about 20 to 25 weeks (this year it would be from early June to maybe early November). The season will be 48 - 60 games long, culminating in a best-of-seven championship series.

Each owner must be a member in good standing of the Chris Creamer Sports Logo Community, and either must have been a member for at least nine months or have at least 500 posts to their credit. Members of BrassBonanza's Simulation Baseball League need not apply.

Up to 12 owners will be accepted for this league (there will be an even number of teams) with the following areas considered viable to support a team. Each city has at least one former/current Major League stadium available for use.

ARLINGTON

ATLANTA

BALTIMORE

BLOOMINGTON

BOSTON

BROOKLYN

CHICAGO

CINCINNATI

I am asking that no two teams be less than 75 miles apart, so as not to encroach on each other's territory (the only city pairs that would not be acceptable to both be in the league are Baltimore/Washington, Los Angeles/Anaheim, Bloomington/Minneapolis, Bronx/Queens/Manhattan/Brooklyn, and San Francisco/Oakland.) The ones that are gray above are either already taken or too close to an existing time.

To apply, just reply to this post fill out the following form. For market, the answer must be one of the markets listed above. For team name, please give both parts of the team name (for instance, a team might play in Queens and be known as the New York Dingers.) I'm requesting that no name be used that was ever used by an MLB, NHL, WHA, NBA, ABA, or NFL team, or any name pairing currently used in another minor sport (like the St. Louis Steamers or Toronto Rock). Applications will be accepted through May 15. Apply early! The earlier you apply, the more likely you will get your choice of market!
