Sean84106 Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 The Salt Lake Stingers of the AAA PCL will change their name and look for next season. The team will go back to the early days when one of Salt Lake's original minor league baseball team was called the Bees. Salt Lake will have changed its team name three times since moving from Portland in 1994, I believe. Before the Stingers they were called the Salt Lake Buzz, but were forced to change it after Georgia Tech sued them.I like the name Salt Lake Bees. Baseball has some deep roots in SLC and it'd be cool to see what they come up with. Just as long as they don't call them the Salt Lake Beezz.I've done some research and the only thing I have found that loosley shows their logo from back then was this 1959 program.
The_Admiral Posted May 3, 2005 Posted May 3, 2005 How is Buzz unacceptable and Stingers isn't? Screw GT. ♫ oh yeah, board goes on, long after the thrill of postin' is gone ♫
Sean84106 Posted May 3, 2005 Author Posted May 3, 2005 I guess GT's mascot was named "Buzz" and they found out about it a few years after the team began playing.
