Brian in Boston
The Continental Basketball Association has announced that the league's Board of Directors has approved Apex Sportstainment, LLC as the owner/operator of four expansion teams. The San Jose Skyrockets - formerly of the ABA - and one other team will enter the CBA in time for the 2006-07 season. The other two expansion teams are expected to join the CBA in time for the 2007-08 campaign.Rumor has it that the second team to take the court in 2006-07 will be the Reno, Nevada-based Northern Nevada Blackjacks. The other two markets that Apex is eyeing are apparently Spokane, Washington and Great Falls, Montana.Additionally, CBA officials are said to be reviewing applications from interested ownership groups in Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Texas.
