The reign of George III comes to an end in New York

It kinda flew under the radar here, but in the past few days the Yankees announced that...

(1) Hal Steinbrenner has become chairman of Yankees Global Enterprises, LLC, the holding company that owns the franchise. This in effect signals the official end of the day-to-day reign of George Steinbrenner, though he'll obviously still be around; and

(2) The new stadium will NOT take on the name of a corporate sponsor, opting instead for an arrangement probably similar to that of the Cleveland Browns with their stadium.

Interesting. Seems like the family's starting to move toward keeping the club rather than selling it off due to George's illness.

Well the 2nd part is not news the Yankees all along have said that they would not be selling naming right to the new stadium. The first part was also expected after George's daughter got divorced (her then husband was supposed to take control of the team).
