  1. That's really nice DG.

McCarthy, thanks for the compliment. So far the latest one is the one I like most too. The other three were done during a painting class at Lillstreet Art Center. Now that I'm just playing around and creating, I'm really enjoying it...especially because my creativity is stifled at work by partners that stick with their own style and being on the project management side of things (and the limited budgets/unwillingness to experiment for affordable housing).

  2. CCSLCers,

A recent discussion came about regarding painting as a hobby, which I and others on the board do. It seems like there isn't a thread to show off members' paintings...until now.

Lets have this be a central repository for showing off CCSLC members' painting skills!

Here are a few of my recent works:

The first one now hangs over my sofa and is inspired by a portion of my thesis project. The second is a self portrait done in a painting class I've taken (the background is the doors of a church in my hometown). The third is pie from said painting class and the last one is a copy of Wanderer above the Sea of Fog by Caspar David Friedrich (one of my favorite paintings/painters) also done in the painting class.

  3. I think what people are missing is corporate money/support. People have said that Indianapolis could support a third major league team. Fan wise? Yes, absolutely. Corporate sponsorship-wise? Not a chance. The Pacers, Colts, and Indians have the vast majority of it tied up. The same thing goes for Seattle. The fans would most likely show up, but could the NHL team survive playing the fifth-wheel in the corporate money dating game?

  4. I'm watching Jets @ Panthers. There is virtually no one sitting in the lower bowl on the bench side between the blue lines, a/k/a the best seats in the house. I did some research and apparently it's become something called "Club Red," where you buy access to a brand-new super-swanky mega-suite for one-percenters, where you can hang out and be rich or go to the seats and watch the game. Which, clearly, no one does. So to the average viewer who isn't conversant with the ever-monetizing ways of Michael Yormark, it looks like no one can be bothered to go to Panthers games. What a way to run a railroad.

I mean, the hell is this? Don't they realize it looks really bad?

I'd like to think that one percenters in the Miami area have better things to do then drive through a swamp and watch the Panthers.

I'd certainly pick doing blow off the ass of a young Latina over the Panthers.

  5. Who specifically is allowed to award posters with the highly-coveted CCSLC POTD ribbon?

Anyone with a degree from a fully accredited institution of higher learning.

Sweet! I can give it out now. Screw the fact that I need my degree to get licensed....this is what I got my degree for!
