  1. It's the Colorado Avalanche proprietary font that Eriqjaffe has in his signature.
  2. No. Univers does not exist as a free font. Closest you'll find, sadly, is Arial.
  3. That is Trajan, sir, with some skewed characters.
  4. did you try what the font for cologne? "Hamburg" is either Gotham from H&F-J or Avenir, but I'd bet it's more likely Gotham.
  5. I believe I've stumped the masters. could be democratica from Emigre. And joshhockey, you can't.
  6. kinda looks like Univers Condensed to me
  7. custom. it's a nike proprietary font called victory - so keen on keeping it from getting out they don't even give it to club teams to use in their materials. I worked with the Oregon hockey team and requested the font and was told by the athletics department that they wouldn't give it out for club sports. Closest commercial font you'll find is handel gothic.
  8. well, D-Backs is, but the font in the ribbon is Copperplate Gothic.
  9. I second the Gill Sans with custom serifs assessment
  10. that at the time would have been hand lettered, so there's not going to be something that's dead-on. You'd be close with Morgan, by feliciano type, Compacta, impact, etc.
  11. LPF font is close to, but not exact (since it's custom made) to Frutiger Condensed Bold. Numbers should be the same or Frutiger. Syracuse used Gill Sans condensed, another Humanist Sans.
  12. thanks for that Jim...learn something new every day, huh?
  13. Good choice - the money will be well spent.
  14. Klavika, from Process Type Foundry, is the typeface that Chevrolet uses for all of its advertising and collateral materials.
  15. dafont.com has plenty of those kinds of typefaces.
  16. just an fyi from a previous post, CS4 is slightly different from CS3 or CS2 in the way it handles some functionality and in the menus, but for the most part is not a big departure from the previous versions. Main differences are highlighted at Adobe's website. The biggest departure for me has always been in Photoshop. They change around every time and I can never figure out how to do what I want from CS.
  17. holy crap i did that and i can't remember what i used...i know the serifs are custom added, but i would whatthefont it to see what the sans base might be. Try Anderson Supercar? (Free on dafont.com)
  18. and you'll continue to have no luck, since it's a custom Phillies script.
  19. it's not so much about secrecy. Custom-made fonts take quite a lot of time and effort to produce, so they're not often let go of lightly, especially when produced by trademark hogs like Nike.
  20. The actual wordmark font I believe is called Victory, which club teams can't get a hold of at UO (I did some design work for the UO Hockey team...I was not allowed access to the font), but yes Handel Gothic comes close. You can get close on the basketball numbers with a variation of Swiss, but it's not identical. As for Bellotti Bold, I doubt you'd be able to find it in an actual typeable-font format.
  21. Puma's soccer fonts are custom made. Nothing comes close. Oregon's font is also custom.
  22. Admirals looks like a heavily modified democratica. The Tampa Bay Rays looks like a slightly modified Mercury Display from Hoefler & Frere-Jones.
  23. I don't know the particular font, but i'm pretty sure that's one created by House Industries (it looks like it at least). http://www.houseind.com you may also want to try Veer http://www.veer.com
  24. clipping masks are great, but if you truly want to delete the portion not on the shirt (you may want to do that for aligning purposes - the align tools will align to the shape like it's not masked, not to the mask) you'll want to use the add-to-shape-area and delete-from-shape-area tools in the pathfinder palette.
