Evergreens, Rainiers, and Seals are my short list. If they were called the Sockeyes I'd never be able to refrain from calling them the Suckass, and if I can't be mature enough to handle that, think of what real idiots would do!

Yeah, I like that song more than I want to admit, it's basically "Let My Love Open the Door."

Yea, personal political ideologies aside, Kid Rock isn't the best choice given the current social climate.
Kid Rock isn't good for any climate. How hard would it have been to just grab some mediocre indie band like Metric? Is Metric even around still?
But to be fair, it's the NHL, it's the All-Star Game, mouthy Hockey Twitter people would be a bottle rocket up their ass no matter what they did. FWAAHHHHHHH AN AGREEABLE ENOUGH ROCK BAND THIS IS WHY YOU'LL NEVER BE MY SWEET BABY NBA

Evergreens is splendid, bite your tongue.
In Grow-the-Game news, the musical guest for the All-Star Game is a dude who performs in front of a Confederate flag.

Is the board missing its favicon? I have a blank page icon on my bookmarks bar now.

I love those last two, even though I know I shouldn’t.
i mean, they're bad on a number of levels, but at least they keep the team logo intact. And I kinda like ST^RS in Serpentine more than Helvetica, it gives it a bad sci-fi feel instead of no feeling at all.

WGN is still in the game, perhaps more than they were before now that they've lost their CW affiliation. It seems like they have the Bulls more nights than they don't.

Listening to a Tony Schiavone podcast about WCW Thunder and Tony brings up that for all the money WCW made in their banner year of 1998, most of it went to...you guessed it: the expansion fee for the Atlanta Thrashers!

Looks like Black Knight Sports & Entertainment really stepped in it here. George McPhee should punch another coach in the face over this.

Watch them not finish their paperwork again.

Mets really doesn't work at any level between the majors and Rookie/Instructional/Short-Season A. Good old metropolitan Binghamton.

The Yankees logo is bad. Just switch to the NY logo.
Note to Cleveland, Detroit, Colorado, Pittsburgh, and San Diego: just letters without any sort of design looks bad as a primary.

Jackie Bradley Jr.’s arm sleeve has reminded me how much more I prefer navy undershirts/sleeves to red for the Red Sox.
Oh, vastly superior.
Red has never been a good base color for the Red Sox. Undershirts, hats, jerseys, jackets, they all look bad in red.

Then they'd have big problems too! Why do you want the NL frozen out of Texas and Canada?

I've maintained that Phoenix as an expansion planned well in advance would have been good-not-great, like Dallas. The relocation from Winnipeg set off a chain reaction of bad decisions that no franchise could recover from.

i think if the Expos come back, they should be in the AL East (more games against the Blue Jays).
I didn't like this line of thinking when the Rangers pissypantsed their way into making the Astros change leagues and I don't like it here. Montreal was a National League town and an affiliate of a National League town. Given that Bell would almost have to own the team, this would have the American League on Sportsnet and the National League on TSN, a fair split. The Blue Jays shouldn't need Montreal to draw or they have big problems.

They tried it with the Igloo and it never worked right. Same with Stade Olympique. Mind you, they've probably gotten the technology down better since then, but a retractable roof might get in way of an INVERTED BOWL

Kind of disappointing that the arena is slated to be another ugly modernist jellybean thing:
I was hoping for something that matched the grandstand:
It'd probably be cheaper to build a brick rectangle, too.- 3

Maybe the Islanders' home games with the Rangers will be moved to Madison Square Garden, taking the NHL's give-the-Rangers-extra-home-games policy from outdoors to indoors.

Count Bettman, for all his ills, will probably make sure a New York team doesn't become more of a gong show than it already is and get everyone to come to some sort of equitable agreement (probably just the Nets letting the Isles use the Coliseum and not being completely Thrashered out of the business).

According to the governor, the Islanders are trying to spend as much of the interim at the Nassau Coliseum as they can.
The new arena will be 100% privately financed, by the way, which is great. Granted, it is state land, and the LIRR is going to have to update the Hempstead branch to stop at Belmont Park, but that's a lot better than most arena deals.

SunMiamiJust to clarify, FSN flips the channels for NBA coverage to minimize the need for overflows, so FSFlorida, which is otherwise the Miami channel, has the Orlando Magic, but Sun, otherwise the Rest Of Florida channel, has the Heat.
