The intersection of those two sets of fans is likely tiny. Sort of the Venn diagram of Hall of Fame guitarists and renowned astrophysicists.
Ah, yes, the Skunk Baxter set.

I guess the way to do Tennessee + Titans would be the dark royal and red from the Tennessee flag combined with the Greek color. Pulling up the copper from the old Copperheads concepts is interesting but takes us back to the Crapitals/Wizards palette.
Speaking of the Aegean Sea, I found out I've been mispronouncing Ege Bamyasi for 17 years but I had no one in my life who could tell me. More like Can't.

I know I tried to brainstorm some Titans stuff a while back in this thread: what about Aegean blue as a color?
It doesn't seem like anyone can definitively agree on what "Aegean blue" is, but it seems to be a mid-saturation blue-grey. Pretty close to the old Seahawks Blue of the 2000s, but far enough from Luv Ya Blue and plain old navy blue.

We're one or two games into the most heralded #1OA since McDavid. Of course he's going to be compared with McDavid and Kane and generally in the spotlight. Again, it's still very early.
Looking good so far, though! Hawks are still missing a ton of pieces up and down the roster; this is by no means the 07-08 Toews/Kane rookie season all over again. But Bedard looks legit.

THE PLAN: play four-on-five defense with the fifth man waiting at the other end of the court for an outlet pass to an uncontested dunk

There's a deep emptiness at the heart of the Texas Rangers that makes their success uniquely depressing from afar. We as a nation couldn't do better than this?

I wish they went with the silver version.
This is the canonical Oilers uniform. Silver didn't look bad for them, just a little out of place and more associated with the Cowboys.

Luka was the obvious choice, here’s this generational talent that just so happened to fall into their laps due to nothing but luck, but their GM at the time was a racist dope, so he passed on him for a dude that everyone down to the ticket agents knew was a bad fit.
Divac passed on a Slovene because he's a Serb? Man, South Slavs can't let anything go.

Were they savvy enough to say "no tape that isn't white or black" for visual-distraction reasons, or did they just straight-up say no one's allowed to have gay tape?
Given the demographics of the league, I wondered if they also want to preempt blue and yellow Personal Opinion Tape on teams that don't wear blue and yellow, but I don't think people care as much about that now.

If the Warriors were in San Francisco instead of Oakland that may have been the case. I think the new arena wanting more income helps get the team there as well. I also think the only reason Cleveland was even involved in the original 8 was that Columbus had a team in the ABL.
I was always under the impression that the WNBA charter teams were sort of an opt-in from interested NBA ownership. In Oakland in 1997, that would have been the odious Chris Cohan, who wasn't even interested in his actual team.
The joke on the playground at the time was that the Bulls couldn't have a sister team because no one would want to play for the Chicago Cows.

The Dream used to play at FKA Philips Arena, and then at Georgia Tech's McCamish Pavilion, and now they play at the Gateway Center Arena where the College Park Skyhawks also play. It's only a 3,500-seat venue for basketball, so I imagine they get a decent crowd for home games.
The Chicago Sky bounced between the UIC Pavilion and the Horizon, then settled into the new DePaul arena south of downtown. They've done respectably at every stop but the thought of them at the United Center is ridiculous.

I do not like Wayne Gretzky doing TV. For one thing, his face is pulled taut and for a guy who famously slipped almost all contact, he talks like he's been bonked on the head with a mallet 5,000 times. But more than that, he's Wayne Gretzky! He's the greatest of all greatest of all times. He should float benevolently above the hockey world. It should be a big deal to see or hear from him. He should have better things to do with his time than sit on a soundstage in Atlanta next to useless goddamn Paul Bissonnette.

On a related note, I don't think Gretzky in his prime got as much attention and camera time as Bedard did in his rookie game 1 last night
Not entirely false! I don't think the '85 Final was even on TV in America.

spartacat_12 is continuing his tradition of excellence by passive-aggressively eyerolling or thumbs-downing every post I make. Which figure do you think season attendance for a Toronto WNBA team would be closer to: 150,000 or 360,000?

It’s better to have “bottom heavy” uniforms in football, rather than “top heavy” it’s not a rule, but the helmet should match the jersey or pants at a minimum, having all three be different is when you start seeing issues with balance.
That's why I never liked the Eagles' set with green helmet, green jersey, silver pants, and white socks. It was top-heavy. Or the Giants' road uniform in which each of the four elements has a different base color.

lol MLSE is not giving up summer dates at an 18,000-seat arena to the WNBA unless five separate Tragically Hip tribute bands all cancel. They'd play at the CNE or Mississauga and either would be perfectly fine for a low-cost, fun-for-the-whole-family event that struggles to draw.

The only reason anyone is mad about what Sean Payton said is because they didn't like him to begin with. Hackett did do a historically terrible job. He's not an S-tier bad coach, which is limited to Urban Meyer and Bobby Petrino, but A-tier for sure with Matt Eberflus and Josh McDaniels (which tenure? either. both).

I never minded it for Wild Card Weekend because of the byes, but once you have a full bracket set, it should stay in place. I never liked the reseeding in the NHL.

The black C sweaters were very well-received at the time because they represented a return to relative normalcy after years of one of the worst road uniforms in the league. As time has gone by, it's easier to see the flaws, namely way too much black on the logo and elsewhere (not sure about any of this stuff about natural flows and fat guys), but they served their purpose. Black should be no more than a minimal accent color for the Flames.

Steelers fans should be above fussing about a coordinator, too, for that matter. It's amazing that Tomlin has them 3-2 after that bloodbath against the Niners.
