  1. Apparently, there are still issues with the C-USA/MWC merger which may have it going back to an "alliance".

Note: Wilner and CBSSports' McMurphy went to the web at about the same time Monday afternoon with updates.

    From Wilner:

    According to sources:

    * The NCAA told the MWC and C-USA that it would award the merged league only one AQ berth to postseason events. So instead of two 8-10 team leagues and two AQs, there would be one 16+ team league with only one AQ.

    * In addition ? and I don?t claim to understand the legal nuances involved ? the exit fees owed to the conferences by departing members would be deemed null and void if that conference merged with another. Memphis, for example, would keep its money from March Madness, instead of that cash going to C-USA.

But here?s what hasn?t changed, and probably won?t change:

Even with an alliance, which would mostly be for scheduling purposes, the MWC and C-USA may very well add new members. And as I noted last week, such a development would endanger the existence of other conferences.

In fact, I believe the Mountain West MUST expand.

In its reconfigured form (i.e., post Boise State/SDSU), the MWC will have 8 schools for football and 7 for everything else because Hawaii?s Olympic sports are headed to the Big West. It simply cannot stay at 7 for Oly sports and, most likely, needs more than 8 for football.

I guess we will see what will happen but I think all is still going to plan

  2. Has anyone heard anything recent about what the WAC is doing (or not doing) to save it's football conference? Any word on who will (or might be) be the next commish?

Your best bet is to read columns of beat writers for the respective (err remaining) schools, and follow the WAC message board on scout.com

Thanks, that is the best WAC board I've seen so far.

  3. So it looks like the WAC is on it's last leg.

The WAC commissioner Karl Benson just announced yesterday that he is leaving the WAC and becoming the Sun Belt commissioner starting April 1st.

So what now for the WAC? As a big Idaho Vandals fan (I'm originally from Moscow, Idaho and grew up watching the Vandal football and basketball games) I don't like how this looks for the UofI. I sure hope we get a new commissioner soon who can turn this thing around and expand the WAC (Big Sky schools like Montana maybe?) or we get an invite from the new MWC/CUSA conference.

Or what if the Sun Belt and WAC followed the MWC and CUSA in creating their own merged league? I could maybe see that working if they could get some more western schools.

  4. I know all the news is about TA&M going to the SEC but I was thinking with all the teams leaving the WAC this year (Boise St.) and next (NV, HI & Fresno St.) for the MW, why don't they just merge and become a 12 - 16 team conference themselves? It seems like it is the only thing left to do to "keep up with the Jones'" of the "bigger" conferences. As a fan of these schools in the "smaller" conferences, I wish they would stop thinking about themselves and join together to beat the BCS. IMHO, bring on a playoff that includes everyone!

  5. Anyone have or know where I can find a freeware version of the font Volta Bold? Thanks in advance.

I found it for only $19.95, if that helps at all...supports a designer too!

Yea, I found it too. I just thought I would ask if someone had a free version or a simular font first. Thanks.

  6. Can some some send me Speedy's RBK edge hockey template vector file with all the teams? I've left a post in that thead but I'm not usre if anyone has seen it. Let me know and I'll pm you my email. Thanks.
