Well, Nike's served us up a veritable plethora of :censored: sandwiches there.
I'd like to think that this whole concept has run its course but the kids still seem to dig them, so I guess we're stuck with it.

If the league ever does ABA throwback nights again they need to use the red, white and blue ball. It's just not right with the orange ball.

Interesting graphical thing for you here, as we all know in 1994 when Fox got the NFL contract they were the first to use the score bug on screen. Well, in the UK when showing NFL highlights at the time, they made sure to add onto the Fox bug with their own little graphic. They covered up the quarter and time for some reason. I don't know what UK channel it was unfortunately.
That would have been on Channel 4, who had been showing the NFL since the early 80s. I seem to remember that they did a similar thing with the NBA when they got the rights to that in the mid-90s.

I wish they'd put the NoB under the number, but these are a huge upgrade.

Doing my weekly shop at my local supermarket and I saw a mobility scooter parked in the entrance atrium totally decked out in Alabama gear, including a huge "Roll Tide" sign on the back. Didn't get a chance to see the person who owned it, but it certainly struck me as an unusual sight for this part of the world.

When I was at high school in the mid-90s I used to walk past a house that was covered in NY Giants signs - a fairly unusual sight in a small town in the English Midlands. I went past the same house for the first time in a decade or so the other day and the original signs are still there, along with a whole load of new ones and a replica helmet mounted on one of the gateposts.

This was the 1991-92 season which was the last year for the Suns at the Memorial Coliseum and final season in the original Suns look while Portland updated their set for the 1991-92 campaign.
Specifically Game 4 of the Western Conference Semis played on May 11th 1992, a 153-151 Blazers win in double-OT - the final* home game for that uni set.
*It was also used in the 1992-93 preseason, leading to a few confusing pics of Barkley in the Western-style unis.

Whilst looking for old Jazz pics, I came across this:
That's Slick Watts during the 1977-78 season, wearing a road jersey from the Jazz's inaugural season. This was from a game at Portland - I suspect it's the game on 8th January 1978, Slick's first road game with the team. I'm assuming that there wasn't time to get a current jersey lettered and numbered. Slick wore #14 for his first couple of weeks with the Jazz before switching to #00.

Yeah, I saw that one too. I'd love to know the exact dates of the two pictures because they're two different numbers, but in Landover against the Bullets. I wonder if it was the same game? It'd be fun to dig a little.
Meriwether wore #31 for his first season with the Jazz, 1977-78, then wore #50 for the start of the 1978-79 season (he was traded to the Knicks after 36 games). The only game he played in Washington as a member of the Jazz that season was the opening game of the season, 13th October 1978.

Must have been a temporary thing - the Jazz had standard NoBs but it looks like Joe C's surname was too long.
It fits ok in this picture, although the number is a little low as a result:

My High School barely had uniforms, let alone a logo (it's not really a thing over here) but my university's American Football team stole & recoloured the Carolina Hurricanes logo - it was green and black when I attended, but it's been changed to purple and black at some point in the 20 years since I left.

Olajuwon as the DPOY? One could make the argument that Rudy Gobert has a stronger case than Hakeem.
Yes, but that would be an incredibly stupid argument.

I don't know the story here, but if it was an unnumbered jersey, can't they just let him play on his own recognizance? I mean, it's not like the refs, announcers, and fans need his number to know that it's Dr. J. If it's some jabroni like the guy he's dunking on, then sure - he needs a number. But guys like him, Kareem, MJ, etc. could get away for a game without one.
NBA rules state that a player's jersey must display both a front and rear number. It's the only element that HAS to appear on the uniform.

I'd love to see the ABA teams do that again, especially in the regular season. And, let's be honest, the NBA and Nike would be all over it.
Actually, I got that wrong. Denver wanted to use the ABA ball in a 1995 game against the Pacers - both teams were wearing ABA-era throwbacks.

That was something the 4 ABA teams did to mark the 30th anniversary of the founding of that league. I seem to remember at least one team (think it was Denver) asking permission to use the ball in a regular season game but were shot down.

No City jersey for Utah, eh?
They're using a throwback as a City due to their overall uniform package being a horrendous :censored:show.

1997-98 was the first year Nike made the Lakers' unis, so it makes sense that they'd make up some potential new uni designs. I know the league had been pushing the Lakers to introduce a 3rd jersey for a couple of years by that point.

It was never a rule in the BAA/NBA, only at college (and possibly high school?) level.

The only time Allan Houston wore the Pistons' teal unis - he'd sign with the Knicks a couple of weeks later.

Here's the actual Magic City uni.

Don't know, but I doubt many. Houston won back to back titles and switched jerseys the next year.
Yeah, but that change was set in motion before the Rockets even won their first chip. I think the owner wanted to scrap the rebrand after the 2nd title but it was far too late.

Just to correct the record, when I first saw these jerseys 2 years ago:
I could only find them in that photoshoot and only found the shorts here in some actual game footage/documentation:
So I assumed they were just used for promotions or for a preseason/exhibition game. But then after digging a bit more when the Rockets announced the new classic, I found this program as well:
So the best I could figure out was that it was just a variation of the home jersey that they wore during the 1967/68 season. The rockets had a few of those variation jerseys during the 60's which were like alternate versions of their home and road jerseys. Not a lot of quality control and consistency during those times.
(Also, sorry to cross promote but the correction is up on my website too if you guys are interested)
Like I stated on the previous page, these seemed to be preseason only - I've found no evidence they were worn in the regular season after combing through 1000s of photos. If you've got anything to the contrary, I'd love to see it - I've spent the last 30-odd years researching NBA uniforms and I'm still finding new stuff!

The only images I've found of the Rockets wearing those shorts are from that one preseason game vs. Seattle and promo images like the one above. I've found no evidence that they were worn in a regular season game.

The Bucks wore green and red from their inception in 1968 until 1985:
